We can blame the top 1% who contribute 17% to the global GHG emissions. On the other hand, it's worth noting that the next 49% contribute 75% of the net global GHGs. It's the bottom 50% who are getting fucked by pretty much anyone who can read this post.

The car industry laughed at EVs. In 2015, 330,000 were sold worldwide. In 2025, 14 million. Nepal went from under 1% to over 75% of new car imports in four years. My piece for The New World ๐Ÿ‘‡ โ€จthenewworld.co.uk/jan-rosenoโ€ฆ

Once again, the difference between what people believe is the biggest danger to people at bus stops and what is actually the biggest danger to people at bus stops, is an absolute chasm. I would honestly love to understand the psychology behind this.
The floating bus stops around cycle lanes, which are death traps for blind and disabled people, are all the evidence we need our woke mayor does not give a damn about people who are actually vulnerable (as opposed to people who tick an identity box)

Why is there a lack of coverage about this?
#YourVoiceMatters #JasonArday has been cleared of plagiarism for a fourth time. Why is the media silent about it? I'm very clear that this is a comment on the industry and not the journalist. I have no idea about the merits or not of his investigation because what most people don't seem to realise is that @timeshighered never published it. It may be a first to be nominated for a prize for a story that never ran. But the issue I'm raising is the optics of a ballroom full of pissed-up journalists celebrating the gotcha of a man who took his own life.
Not a single news outlet has reviewed its coverage of Jason Arday, for accuracy or proportionality. Zero attempt has been made to conduct any inquiry into the mediaโ€™s role in his death. Instead, the industry has moved into self-congratulatory mode. This isnโ€™t just tone deaf, it betrays a systemic failure

Days before Trump's Texas rally scrapping the EPA's "Super Emitter Program," satellites detected a massive methane plume near Lubbock. The rollback strips satellite analysts of the legal power to report these major leaks, saving drillers billions while hiding emissions.

I'm grateful to see this thread as it's not often a prominent journalist will make the effort or indeed make a declaration against own interest to interrogate their own industry.

Two key snap charts on the Budget... 1) in sheer numbers of policies, it's the "busiest" Budget in modern history. 98 different scorecard measures(!) 2) BUT the average VALUE of those measures was the smallest on record. Every little helps? Or too much fiddling? Views may differ

The powerful men in Jeffrey Epsteinโ€™s circle who raped and murdered little girls still walk free, while rape victims like those little girls can be executed for having an abortion, under a new Tennessee bill. And men wonder why women are so determined to burn this whole patriarchal system down.
โ€œTN bill would allow death penalty for women who have an abortion *** The bill โ€œprohibits all abortions from fertilization, without exceptions for rape or incest.โ€ Itโ€™s supported by the president of the SBC, Americaโ€™s largest evangelical denomination. 2/20/26 โ€ฆ 1/

This multi millionaire public school boy lives in Thailand & holds an official UK non-resident status, meaning he pays zero income tax in the UK. He thinks we should forgo our human rights & democracy and be ruled by rich people. The sociopathy of wealth red in tooth & claw.
The UK must be "cruel to be kind" to be successful in the next ten years, says Yo Sushi! founder Simon Woodroffe. "Economic success trumps individuals' human rights."

Steve Bell was sacked by The Guardian over this cartoon of Benjamin Netanyahu.
Just in: IPSO has refused to investigate the Telegraph cartoon of Mothin Ali, the Green Party's Muslim deputy leader, grinning over a knife and fork at the severed head of Zack Polanski, its Jewish leader, who is drawn with a hooked nose. Nearly 1,200 of you complained. IPSO's reason: the cartoon is about two individuals, so only Mothin and Zack can complain. How racist the drawing is doesn't come into it. IPSO did not have to do this, and it has done the opposite before. IPSO's rules let it take up a complaint from people other than the person written about, when the breach is significant, and there is a substantial public interest in looking at it. In July 2023 it used that power. It ruled that Jeremy Clarkson's Sun column about the Duchess of Sussex was sexist, after complaints from two women's charities, the Fawcett Society and the WILDE Foundation. The Duchess did not complain. The Telegraph's editor, Chris Evans, chairs the committee that writes the Editors' Code, which is the rulebook IPSO enforces. The Telegraph is still selling prints of the cartoon today. IPSO's rule says it may take up a complaint like this, not that it must. So this was a choice. Picture a school. One boy draws two classmates, a Muslim boy and a Jewish boy. He gives the Jewish boy a hooked nose and puts his head on a plate, and draws the Muslim boy about to eat it. He pins the picture to the noticeboard and sells copies at the gate. A thousand pupils go to the head teacher. She tells them she can only act if the two boys in the picture come to her themselves. So the picture stays on the board, and every Muslim and Jewish child in the school walks past it each morning. The boy who drew it learns he can do it again. And the rulebook the head teacher is reading from was written by a committee his dad chairs. Nobody would say that head teacher is protecting the children. She is protecting the boy who drew it. That is what IPSO has done. It says it regulates the Telegraph, and it has just told nearly 1,200 people that a racist cartoon in a paper it regulates is not its business unless the two men drawn in it come and ask.

Greenland has now lost more ice than it has gained for 30 consecutive years, losing around 135 billion tonnes in the year to August 2026. Even with a relatively cool start to summer and less melting than in previous years, the ice sheet continued to shrink. carbonbrief.org/guest-post-gโ€ฆ

Tom Watson spent years sabotaging Labour as deputy leader, then stepped away from politics, joined a gambling firm, apparently decided it wasn't evil enough for him and went to work for Palantir. Utterly vile.
Nobody wants to buy a service they canโ€™t walk away from. Palantirโ€™s critics have long claimed we โ€˜lock inโ€™ our customers. We donโ€™t. This short film explains why. Itโ€™s the first in a series on the gap between the rhetoric about Palantir and the work we actually do.

This is a map of voting sites in Jerusalem. As you can see, they are completely absent from most of East Jerusalem, where the majority is Palestinian. This is how apartheid works. You give a small and harmless minority of Palestinians the right to vote, take pictures of them and talk about how you have democracy. Then you don't let them into the coalition and make sure only Jews have power.
