This was within hours, before anything the right had done Shoeonhead did a nice video on this, so I will outsource it to her rather than rehash this. Video below To justify this claim, woodgrains references a montage of tweets put together by Contrapoints/Natalie Wynn. Most of the tweets in that montage are by internet shitposters and they are vague expressions of anger that are essentially meaningless. The person in that montage closest to power, Chris Rufo, expressly says that power should be used “within the law.” Ultimately, the Trump admin seems to have done some cracking down on Antifa, but nothing excessive. I haven’t really followed the story or seen any headlines, which suggests that Wynn’s insinuations that something bad was actually going to happen were grossly overstated And regardless, the timing doesn’t line up. The sociopathic celebrations started immediately, before any threat of reprisal The comparison to George Floyd, which woodgrains tries to make, also falls flat. The biggest difference is that Floyd was an unintentional death at the hands of a police officer, whereas Kirk’s death was explicitly a political assassination. We can debate the merits of Chauvin’s conviction, but regardless of culpability his killing of Floyd is not something the right endorsed; it was an unfortunate incident in the line of duty In the grand scheme of things, Floyd was a rather pitiful figure whom no one would have cared about, except that the left turned him into a martyr featuring a gold-plated coffin that they fundraised for, and he became the legitimizing wellspring for riots around the country that caused billions of dollars of damage and likely kicked off a crime wave that caused thousands of incremental murders (ironically concentrated in black men, thus meaning that Black Lives Matter actually got more black men killed than decades’ worth of police brutality deaths) Floyd became a sacred cow in a way that was completely out of touch with reality, and that we all had to defer to. We all remember the black square day on Instagram. We all remember politicians kneeling. We all remember professional athletes kneeling before games. All of this over an aging drug addict and petty criminal who arguably died from fentanyl rather than excessive force (I’m looking forward to @PassagePress book on this) Some anons made some gauche and irreverent memes about him.
