Report on national suicide rate recorded by real-time surveillance shows no change.
Why does this matter?
Because of a belief out there that suicide is ⬆️. It isn’t.
And because we are not seeing a fall. We should look to econ stress, alcohol & MH care to bring rates down.

EUFOR Public Affairs Office Statement:
Regarding the incident which occurred in the Gorice area near BRCKO, EUFOR can confirm that on the evening of 29th October 2026, an Italian CH-47 Chinook crashed, while conducting routine training.
As a result of this accident, EUFOR suffered the loss of four personnel on board, with another eleven sustaining injuries, and are currently in a stable condition and receiving medical treatment.
There was no damage to civilian infrastructure, property or vehicles, and no civilians were injured as a result of the crash.
FOUR KILLED, 11 INJURED AS ITALIAN CH-47 CHINOOK CRASHES DURING EUFOR MISSION IN BOSNIA
An Italian 🇮🇹 CH-47 Chinook military helicopter serving with the European Union Force (EUFOR) under Operation Althea crashed near the village of Gorice in the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 29, 2026.
According to the latest reports, four people were killed and 11 others injured in the crash. The injured personnel are receiving medical treatment and were reported to be in stable condition by EUFOR.
📍 Crash site and emergency response
The helicopter came down in an uninhabited area near the first houses of Gorice. Emergency services, including firefighters, police and medical teams, responded to the scene.
Local authorities reported a significant aviation-fuel spill near the wreckage, prompting firefighters to remain at the site overnight because of the potential risk of fire or explosion.
Fortunately, no civilian injuries or damage to civilian infrastructure, property or vehicles have been reported.
🔎 Investigation underway
EUFOR has confirmed the accident and launched a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances and cause of the crash. No official cause has been established.
The helicopter was operating as part of Operation Althea, the EU-led peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been active since 2004 to help maintain a safe and secure environment.
The tragic accident has prompted condolences and concern as authorities continue their investigation.

On behalf of the NATO Military Committee and myself, our thoughts are with the crew and everyone on board, with their families living hours of anguish, and with their comrades, awaiting for more news. I have sent a message to General Luciano Portolano to express our closeness to him and to the Italian Armed Forces at this painful time.
These men and women serve peace and stability in a region to which Allies and partners have committed decades of effort.
As an Italian, I feel this tragedy all the more deeply.

Am Samstag (31.10.) will die #GenZ in mehreren #NRW-Städten demonstrieren. Dafür wird jetzt schon mit kleineren Protestaktionen Werbung gemacht. In Köln wurde eine Bankfiliale mit dem Termin der Proteste beschmiert. Am Donnerstagmorgen (29.10.) haben Jugendliche den Eingang der Technischen Hochschule in #Köln blockiert. Auch sie wiesen mit einem Plakat auf den 31.10. hin. Auf dem Kölner Heumarkt findet an Halloween eine der größten Demos statt. Auch Gastronomen und Anwohner bereiten sich darauf vor. Bei ähnlichen Protesten in Frankreich, Italien und Spanien kam es teils zu gewalttätigen Ausschreitungen. Laut Verfassungsschutz könnten auch extremistische Gruppen versuchen, die Demos in NRW für ihre Zwecke zu nutzen. Die #Polizei will verstärkt Präsenz zeigen und bei Gewalt konsequent eingreifen.
