Not the point I am making. I am saying the results of the polygraphs are irrelevant. Not that other relevant evidence should be ignored.

Also the argument that we can’t just allow Iran to freely import technology and other military/dual-use goods from the U.S. and Europe while they remain an adversary. We have to do what we can to limit their access, even if it’s ultimately porous.

Interesting read. I will say, I don’t think the conclusion should be that sanctions are completely ineffective at pressuring the regime. Because they still impose substantial costs directly on the regime apparatus as they inherently place a premium on smuggled goods and articles.

They are all wall to wall on TV in Texas. It’s unending. I’m also seeing a lot of ads for Texas elections on Twitter

Incredible. Endless stories about young people feeling disillusioned, dooming about not being able to even buy a house etc, and yet there is no politician of any party (afaik) that will actually do anything to reduce the boomers’ slice of the pie.
.@AbdulElSayed thinks property tax for seniors should be frozen
I think its generational warfare and that they should sell their houses if they can't afford them. He concedes I'm 'theoretically correct' but practically wrong

An effective interview process can perform the same function without the additional baggage of a polygraph.

Polygraphs are a pseudoscientific fiction
Increasingly of the view that this administration should be the final straw for the polygraph.
Congress should statutorily prohibit the DoD and IC from administering them.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired the Pentagon's top military planner, a Pentagon official told CBS News late Wednesday.
Army Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia is the latest in a series of generals to be ousted. The firing comes even as President Trump is weighing renewed strikes on Iran in the eight-month-long war.
The Pentagon official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel matters, said Sylvia was accused of misconduct for leaking classified information related to the Iran war and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Sylvia failed three polygraph tests about sharing classified information with the press, the official said, adding that the case has been referred to the Department of Justice.

Failing a poly doesn’t mean anything. They are fictional pseudoscience

FWIW, neither the Joint Staff nor the J5 specifically are responsible for Iran OPLANs. That’s CENTCOM’s responsibility.
Hard to read this as anything but spin
NEW: On background from a War Department official:
Army Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, who was part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was fired by Secretary Hegseth for severe misconduct. Although Sylvia’s title was director of the Directorate for Strategy, Plans, and Policy at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, known inside the military as the J5, he was NOT a central planner for the Iran War. That is the responsibility of CENTCOM and its commander Admiral Cooper.
Sylvia is the subject of an investigation for leaking classified information about the Iran War, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and more. Due to the Pentagon’s media policy requiring journalists to have escorts in the building, Sylvia began meeting with journalists outside of the Pentagon in order to leak classified information.
Sylvia failed three polygraphs which questioned him about leaking classified information. The investigation into him remains ongoing and has been referred to the Department of Justice for further action. The extent of his leaking became so critical that Secretary Hegseth took immediate action and fired Sylvia in order to protect national security. Urgent action was needed and could not wait another second.

This means the Joint Staff that serves the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine is without its chief planner on the eve of possible resumption of strikes against Iran. It is the 2nd General serving in the Pentagon’s top planning role (J-5) that has been fired/forced out by Hegseth.

Since a few Kyiv Independent readers have asked, I’d like to explain what happened with Caolan Robertson’s video, out of respect for our supporters.
Our team found that a video on Caolan’s @CaolanReports YouTube channel included a fragment of an earlier Kyiv Independent video, used without permission and without a request for permission. It wasn’t just footage. It was an animated map that takes our team a lot of work to produce.
Importantly, Caolan’s video cropped out our logo from the fragment. Instead of crediting our work, it fully removed the attribution to the Kyiv Independent. That isn’t citation or fair use.
Our team member did what is standard when your content is used this way on YouTube: They filed a copyright report. YouTube reviewed the case and removed the video. We follow the same process whenever our work is used without permission, regardless of who the creator is.
Worth noting that a removal like this doesn’t kill the creator’s work: The video can simply be re-uploaded without the copyrighted material.
So I was surprised that Caolan instead chose to publicly attack the journalists whose work he lifted, and to appeal to journalistic solidarity in a case where he didn’t demonstrate any.
Our team has been reporting on the ground in Ukraine since before the full-scale invasion. We’re independent, funded mostly by our readers, and we earn every dime. We’re very proud of our work, from front-line reporting to war crimes investigations. We respect the work of other journalists and expect the same for ours.
I wish Caolan all the best in telling his audience about Ukraine. If he ever wants to use our work, he’s welcome to ask, like anyone else.
We are all on the same side when it comes to this: We want as many voices as possible telling the world about Ukraine. But being on the same side means respecting and crediting each other’s work. Credit matters because the reporting everyone draws on has to come from somewhere.
Thank you.

Some kind of joint Ukraine / Netherlands air defense project called Bliksem.
Not clear if it involves any new or upgraded AD systems
❗️Ukraine and the Netherlands have started work on a joint air defense project called Bliksem — this was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and representatives of Ukrainian and Dutch companies, noting that the teams have already been tasked with developing a specific project in this area.
