Something very exciting is happening in education and I want to pull together what I think is the biggest sea change in a generation! In this article, I am going to look at the Enrichment Framework for Schools and Colleges, the Oracy Framework, the development of the National Centre for Arts Education (NCAE) and the announcement in yesterday’s budget that £15 million will be made available for children’s literacy charities, specifically including BookTrust and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
I want to explore what this all means for education because when I put them all together, they are clearly stating that a child’s voice, their creativity, their stories and their experiences matter in education. Finally, it seems, the child has returned to the centre!

After yesterday’s post about the Russell Brand trial, my inbox was flooded with people claiming this is all just a coordinated media conspiracy.
Well, I hope those same people actually read what came out of Southwark Crown Court today, because Brand took the witness stand and completely shredded his own defense.
Under cross-examination, he openly admitted to "inconsistencies" in his evidence, awkwardly asking the prosecution for forgiveness.
Even more damning, his own barrister asked him if a single friend or colleague from twenty-five years in showbusiness was willing to stand up in that courtroom and speak for his character.
His answer was no. Not a single person would touch him with a barge pole. Think about what that actually means. Decades surrounded by entourages, agents, and industry friends, and not one human being is willing to take an oath on his behalf.
Then look at how he described women to the jury today.
He admitted saving a complainant’s name in his phone labeled with a degrading slur and a sexual act. When asked if a woman expressed reluctance to an encounter, he casually dismissed her hesitation as "coquettishness and coyness."
This is not a misunderstood free-thinker being silenced for his politics. This is an arrogant narcissist who used celebrity status to treat women like disposable commodities, and is now watching his carefully rehearsed narrative crumble under basic legal scrutiny.
Stop falling for the staged internet guru act. The admissions coming out of his own mouth in that courtroom tell you everything you need to know.
For social workers, play therapists, foster carers, kinship carers, adopters, virtual schools, designated teachers... a book fir shared reading for children who can no longer live with their birth family...

Does this really have to be a tribal/partisan issue? Regardless of what side of the race/gender realism argument you are on, isn't there just basic human empathy for a grieving family and community? It goes without saying that because the media industry is overwhelmingly white, the journalists celebrating this nomination will also be. I don't understand why anyone can think this is a good idea whatever their strongly-held beliefs about the wider story.
I woke up wanting to write about the gifts that having cancer has given me...

This is brilliant! If we/society ever get serious about moving the dial towards rehabilitation, reading/education is one of many keys that will make a big difference.

When the clocks change and we're gifted an extra hour, I always wish we could have an extra hour every day. I chose to rest in my extra hour this year. It was bliss...

I do have to wonder though... do Reform voters even care? It wouldn't be hard to assume that they are probably OK with these people?
Reform says “a handful” of bad apples slip through vetting.
It’s not a handful. We’ve exposed Reform councillor after Reform councillor, and many of them are still in the party. Here are some of the worst 👇

An excellent summary
Mattering
@_LisaCherry Nails it
After trauma of losing home, community then country (many involved in complex cross border cases can identify)
It's a very long road to mattering again for Mothers and children
Beautifully written with quiet wisdom 🙏
Today's post asks us to focus on the journey that we’ve been on in the last 10/15 years in relation to trauma! The good, the not so good and the really unhelpful!

‼️ Boston voted more than 75% Leave 🔥 the highest Leave vote in Britain.
Ten years later, residents tell the i that jobs are still scarce, public services still struggle, immigration has not disappeared and life has not noticeably improved.
One Leave voter says:
“It’s made no difference, has it?”
Another admits:
“We’re a poorer country than we would have been if we’d stayed in.”
That tells us something important.
People in places like Boston weren’t wrong to be angry. They had been living with decades of economic decline, low wages and disappearing industry.
But the EU wasn’t the cause of those failures and Brexit didn’t cure them.
The real task now is bigger than simply rejoining Europe.
We need to rebuild Britain at home while rebuilding our relationship with Europe abroad.
That is how you finally address the grievances that produced Brexit in the first place.
I'd do anything to be back in the EU. Thank you for being honest @andyburnham about what an utter shit show Brexshit was.
You're going to love my next book... it is a road map to creating relational webs of belonging as THE work. It's a leap from focusing on practical needs but the BML framework gets to those VIA relationships NOT at the expense of them! 😉

Belonging is often located as the responsibility of the person, that somehow it will happen by default. This is nonsense. Belonging has to be cultivated, weaved, tended to... it is intentional.
Join us in Birmingham next year to spend a day learning, growing, developing and cultivating intentional weaving of belonging so that you can take this learning into your teams, organisations and 1:1 relationships.
We can't wait to see you...
