Check out this comprehensive review on CRISPR-Cas associated transposons. It’s sure to inspire your next gene editing strategy!
It was a pleasure working with @PopoMicro on this review of CRISPR-Cas associated transposons (CAST). Hopefully it gives a sense for the diversity of Tn7-like transposons and CRISPR systems that independently combined.go.shr.lc/444PwFh

I continue to be awe struck by the flagella because a) it is such a complex machine that is fascinatingly similar to mechanical motors, b) it demonstrates the power of evolution, a series of random mutations and natural selection. Check out this new work from Singh et al.
My grandfather built motors that powered big machines. In a lab not so different from his workshop, my colleagues and I uncovered the assembly of the bacterial motor. Today, this discovery has been published in @NatureMicrobiol #MolecularNodes #Discovery nature.com/articles/s41564-0…

Blown away by @joeBondyDenomy ‘s work on the ‘Phage that wants to be a eukaryote’. Love the paradigm changing idea of prokaryotic nuclei. Along with other work on cytoplasmic compartments in bacteria, it’s clear that prokaryotes are not just a bag of biomolecules.

Check out this new preprint that identifies bacterial hosts of prototypical crAssphage and reveals their interesting plasmid based existence! Also @DanicaSchmidtk1 and Angela are incredibly talented phage Jedis aka phaJedis!!

Not sure how far this will reach on 'Ten'- but I will be searching for a TT position this Fall generally in the areas of microbial ecology and genetics. Bonus! I come with experience in teaching and mentoring a diverse student body. Feel free to DM any announcements :)

NPR reports 350 mass shootings (including 4 this weekend) and 21,000 deaths already this year. The dichotomy of supporting cutting edge medicine to save lives while losing lives to problems with simple solutions (gun reform) thwarted by politics makes no sense!

This fantastic piece on our WastewaterSCAN program dives deep into the process, including the incredible team at @verilylifesci, the participating plants, and the courier! I'm super proud that our work is scaling with this team. Thanks for the great coverage @LuzPenaABC7!
Our healthtech expertise helps drive the WastewaterSCAN.org collaboration, a free effort by scientists at @Stanford, @MarleneKWolfe @EmoryRollins & Verily to scale a natl. wastewater monitoring system that helps mitigate #COVID. More via @LuzPenaABC7: abc7ne.ws/3xT9RPe

SARS-CoV-2 likely infects the GI tract and can persist up to even 7 months after infection. This could explain Long COVID, and has relevance to personal immunization plans and wastewater-based epidemiology. #COVID #SARSCoV2 #wastewater @StanfordMed @MedCellPress
ONLINE NOW: Natarajan et al show that patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 can shed RNA for up to 7 months after infection, shedding is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, and the gastrointestinal tract may be infected even after the respiratory infection has cleared.
