AI will solve capitalism.
Capitalism exists because resources are scarce, labor is expensive, and production has limits.
Now imagine a world where intelligence is virtually free, labor is automated, and the cost of producing goods and services approaches zero.
What happens to an economic system built around scarcity when scarcity itself starts disappearing?
We won’t need to work to survive. We won’t need to spend our lives competing for access to basic necessities.
The entire premise of the economy changes.
Capitalism was an incredibly effective system for organizing a world of scarcity.
AI is going to force us to rethink what an economy even is in a world of abundance.
Not quite. As open models improve, inference becomes more efficient and commoditised compute materialises, the same competitive forces destroying SaaS margins will affect the Big AI providers themselves
Following Moore’s law, sufficiently capable intelligence will run locally on cheap hardware (power of a macbook pro today), so why would consumers keep renting it from Big AI / Big Tech?
Software isn’t the only thing becoming cheaper to produce. Intelligence is too

met a german girl in bali.
27, travelling solo, quit her job to “find herself.”
no house, no savings, still paying off her student loans.
told me she doesn’t want kids because she wants to see the world first.
her biggest achievement this year was watching the sunset in 8 different countries.
instagram sold her a lifestyle she can’t afford.
i wish her the best.

Build in public was always about marketing. Sometimes you’d be sharing lessons because you genuinely want other indiehackers to succeed, but that’s from an era where there was a non verbal agreement to not overlap projects with someone else, and you have X months of a technical head start anyway.
But the sharing ultimately led to benefits. More people checking out your site. More WOM. Maybe even some direct signups from X or wherever you’re sharing.
That era is dead now. There’s no tech head start anymore and the non verbal agreement has evaporated. It’s every man woman and chihuahua for themselves. There’s also so much software that nobody cares anymore. I could launch something today that would be revolutionary 2 years ago, that today nobody would bat an eye at. It’s all within reach of anyone with a max subscription.
RIP building in public. Let’s hope we find something to replace it.
But I think the game now is: can you find a space not saturated with devs where you can provide value with tech, can you shut up about it, and can you sell the solution to non technical buyers.
Long enough to make generational wealth before AGI turns us all back into fishermen and rice farmers.
Godspeed my fellow meat proxies.

being born in the UK is amazing because you can have a good education and figure out how to leave the UK

No
You're being used as a useful idiot here
To force through regulatory capture that will turn you into a serf
Same with the fear of terror 20 years ago or fear of climate change
You're being used!

it's always luck - but you can speedrun it - i.e. 37 posts a day significantly increases your chances of virality versus 1 post a day

i don't think tech people understand how little non-tech people care about tech
the average person does not have a basic understanding of how a computer works
the idea of everyone just prompting their own software is only for a small subset of people
Disagreed - normies will still pay for software as they don't yet know nor have the time or patience to vibe code their own versions with AI
I am so confused why people don't understand this, I keep getting these replies
Don't you get it?
Normies don't vibe code, they just ask something like "do my bookkeeping" or "file my tax" or "organize a movie night and send invites" or "generate a flyer for movie night" or "edit my video"
They don't ever see code, vibe code, or do anything with code, their AI chat app just does it for them
Most of the software layer has already disappeared or will completely disappear for normies
Just like building personal homepages permanently disappeared for normies when Facebook launched ~2005
A lot like this picture where functions of individual devices all got replaced with a single device
Same happening with apps now
I think this shouldn't strictly be the case. There are opportunities to build new successful SaaS so long as data is the moat in it
People will continue to pay for proprietary data and network effects. That's why Pieter still pays for X, a SaaS
Oh for sure
I think my only moat left post-AGI is:
- Nomads.com community + data (now free membership)
- Me being on @X with an audience
- My levels.vc investments
The rest will be completely and utterly wiped out with no doubt

I’m in disbelief right now. 12 months ago I remember making flappy bird with AI in 2-3 prompts and being blown away.
Now it can make a call of duty game. One that’s actually fun… I played for like 2 hours today and in between matches I would have GPT 6 make changes…
I genuinely think gaming will be the mass onboarding to AI. It’s just too much fun at this fidelity.
He's got that dog in him.
I saw it in @jackfriks in 2023.
Must follow him.
