Amen. Going through this right now.
The greatest gift you’ll ever give your marketing is to say: “Stop. Let’s get the foundations right first, especially all the parts no one will ever see: positioning, guidelines, and infrastructure.” Go slow to go fast.

Incorporating meaningful sustainability into behemoths like Wayfair and Ikea wont happen unless they're willing to cut sales and profits goals as they completely rebuild their business. tinyurl.com/3j42nkj8

Tiny things I do to fight the fact that I sit at a desk and stare at a screen all day: - My breathing becomes really shallow, so every hour or so I take 3-5 massive, deep breathes. - Get outside and look up. Just stare for a minute. It's beautiful and I take it for granted.
Going old school for a moment: Is good old phone support dead? What D2C companies offer live phone support out there? Have there been any softwares/platforms/tools that have evolved phone support in any way?

As a founder, 93% of your job is routing people who have great ideas to other people who need to know about those great ideas.
More than anything, I'm just so deeply impressed/awed by this man's conviction to do what he believes is right, external forces be damned. His ability to stay true to his values regardless of how much money is at stake is unparalleled. nytimes.com/2022/09/14/clima…
Terrific thread and this point is BY FAR the thing I've struggled with the most. I'm utterly convinced that getting better at this will be the single biggest unlock for my company.

Fourth, a leader’s job is not to be liked. Ouch, this is a hard one. The job is to be clear, consistent, and fair. You need a thick skin. For every decision you make, you have to ask NOT “will people like me for this” but instead: Is it fair?

This is so impressive. I love finding these nuggets. I had never heard of Hero Cosmetics until now, and I love that I can keep finding new examples of incredibly well operated companies to be inspired by.
Hero Cosmetics sold to Church and Dwight. $630M sales price. Last 12 months Revenue: $115 million EBTIDA: $45 million 5.5X Revenue 14X EBITDA Crazy EBITDA - 40% of sales! Never seen that before. @jurhyu - name of your company is so apt. You are a hero.

Humbling to read about the Swell journey. I'm chewing on the lessons I could learn and take away from this. Thanks @seanfrank for sharing.
S'Well hit 100 MILLION in sales in 2016. The company was sold for 18 million back in march. From collabs with stars and starbucks... To being rolled up by a category aggregator... What happened? I dont have all the details, but here is what is public-
Any tips on how to stop delaying the first hour? I feel like procrastination is a low-key cosmic level force.
You can get “good enough” at almost anything in 20 hours of focused effort. The problem is, most people spend years delaying the first hour.
Agreed. The law of compound interest also applies to the daily practice of just showing up. The longer you show up and the longer you don't give up, the greater the chances that magical things will happen.
Something magical happens when you show up every day and never give up.
As CEO, I've green lit multiple e-commerce dev projects that are $250k+ and estimation has always been incredibly challenging. I've had to write-off projects after spending six figures on them and it sucks. Would love to dig into this, if nothing else, for my own education.
My development agency frequently estimated projects > $500,000. Estimation is hard, but I built an estimation template over 15 years to clearly lay out requirements & mitigate risk. Want a copy? Like + Retweet + Comment with 👍 - and I'll DM it to you! (Must be following me)
I can hear the angst-ridden vocal minority now —"this is terrible for the brand!" But given @Peloton's recent performance & massive glut of inventory this makes total sense. They need to prioritize moving units, not moving people emotionally. More👇 cnbc.com/2022/08/24/peloton-…

They've got enough brand equity to last through this. Great article from @laurenthomas for @CNBC.
