The solution against hardware wallet attacks is not a new hardware wallet
Let me introduce: OFF WALLET
Managed to
- Generated a new BIP39 wallet
- Received BTC on the Game boy
- Sent them over to a different address
- Signed the tx with the Game boy
- No internet connection required
- No connection with a PC was used
- Signed tx was exported with the display itself
No new hardware, most of you already have it at home, no supply chain compromised.
Just cryptography and sepk256k1 on a 8 bit CPU.

Generic hardware is an _enormous_ improvement over hardware wallets, because an attacker needs to backdoor _far_ more units to attack a niche use case.
Maybe 1-in-100 laptops or Raspberry Pi's will ever store crypto currency on them. 95-in-100 Ledgers will.

PSA the ledger incident isn't limited to Asia
This is a device purchased in store from an official reseller in Europe (a legitimate device doesn't have any of these cables as can be seen in picture 2)
This even seems to be an old version of the 'spy implant' even though the device was purchased a couple of weeks ago. The newer versions usually hide the implant by the screen so it's easier to miss
What's interesting is that this compromised ledger never transfered funds to an exploiter. Either the device didn't work or they were waiting for a more widespread usage of the comprised devices?
If you own a ledger that didn't directly come from the ledger online store make sure to not just rely on the software genuinely check by ledger but to actually open up the ledger yourself to make sure its original, again there are reported cases in Asia, south America and now Europe as well.
@MagicalTux made some useful videos on how to open the ledger and what to look for.

This upcoming Sunday October 11th marks one year since we lost Max van Rossem while he was traveling for Cardano in Japan. Max was deeply passionate about Cardano and brought so much energy to our community.
Four months later his son Max Louis was born in Amsterdam.

The goal isn't anonymous voting.
The actual Cardano vote remains public and accountable.

Private deliberation.
Time-based signals.
Verifiable reputation.
Vote publicly. Think privately.
What about someone appearing at the last minute and flooding the signal?
Time matters.
A signal that has been held and updated over the life of a proposal should carry more informational weight than a last-second flip.
Time weighted signalling can make that visible.

Until now, a hard fork meant new code and a vote to turn it on. This time that's not enough. Dijkstra brings new protocol parameters, and our current Constitution has no idea they exist. If we upgrade without fixing that, we get new features nobody is allowed to adjust.
So the Constitution has to change alongside the protocol. That's CAP-12.
The part I find interesting is that this isn't just paperwork. Every new parameter has to be put somewhere, and where it goes decides who has a say over it later. DReps only, or DReps and SPOs. That's a real choice, one that can be influenced now.
