🚨 TIGRAY BATTLEFIELD REPORT | 29 OCT 2026
ETHIOPIA ― Tigray forces (TDF) announced that an operation targeting regime troops moving from Abiy Addi in Tembien toward Gororo, through the Menjin and Merere areas of Kola Tembien, left 108 ENDF soldiers dead and 204 wounded, according to a statement released by TPLF.
Tigrayan forces also repelled a day-long offensive aimed at capturing Simret Tabia in Rama Woreda.
According to the statement, regime forces attempted to regroup and launch a renewed assault, reinforced with additional troops and firepower from Aksum and Adi Berak. However, they failed to breach TDF defensive positions.
A subsequent TDF counteroffensive reportedly forced regime troops to retreat in disarray, leaving numerous casualties behind.

Shouldn’t Putin send a heartfelt thank-you card to #Ireland, #Italy, #Norway, #Sweden, #Germany, and the rest of the EU for so generously helping fund Ethiopia’s new fighter jets with European taxpayers’ aid money?

Ethiopia: Poverty is a national crisis, but buying billion-dollar weapons is a national achievement. 🤡
Fighter jets can’t bomb away poverty. Missiles can’t fix the economy. And weapons can’t buy national unity.
People need food, jobs, healthcare and peace-not expensive weapons. 😂

No Threats, No Forced Access: Cairo Draws the Red Line on Eritrea’s Sovereignty
Egypt and the UN Chief stress de-escalation, mutual agreement, and commercial access amid rising tensions in the Horn of Africa.
In Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty outlined discussions between President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and UN Secretary-General António Guterres on regional stability, escalating tensions in the Horn of Africa, and the threat of a possible military attack on Eritrea.
The message was clear: de-escalation must prevail, and maritime access must be built on mutual agreement not threats or force.
Abdelatty emphasized two fundamental principles for any military or maritime access arrangement: it must serve legitimate commercial purposes and be based on mutual understanding and agreement with neighboring countries.
At a time when rhetoric surrounding access to the Red Sea is raising concerns across the region, these principles carry particular weight. No country's pursuit of economic or strategic interests can justify undermining the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or security of its neighbors.
The Red Sea is a vital artery for regional and global trade. Its future should be shaped by cooperation, respect for international law, and peaceful agreements not intimidation, military adventurism, or imposed arrangements.
The discussions also addressed Egypt's water security and the long-running dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Abdelatty reiterated President el-Sisi's position that the right to development must be balanced with the fundamental right to life and existence, highlighting the need for a negotiated solution.
From maritime security to water security, Cairo's message points toward a fundamental principle: lasting stability cannot be built by threatening a neighbor's existence or disregarding its legitimate rights.
For the Horn of Africa, the choice remains clear: dialogue over confrontation, cooperation over coercion, and respect for sovereignty over dangerous ambitions.
Peace is built through mutual agreement. Sovereignty is not negotiable.

ETHIOPIA ― Nearly 50% of Oromos are believed to be Muslims, yet Orthodox Christians continue to face targeted massacres, particularly in Arsi Zone, allegedly at the hands of Muslim extremists.
Jawar Mohammed, once a prominent opposition figure and now an ally of Abiy Ahmed, once made a chilling statement about his predominantly Muslim Oromo region, claiming that 99% of its population are Muslim and there, no one dares to speak out because we will chop their heads off with a machete.
That statement, if accurately quoted and understood in its original context, may offer insight into the conditions that have allowed recurring violence against Orthodox Christians to persist in parts of Oromia.
