He willnae Rest In Peace until we've regained Scotia's independence.
Let's make this terrible moment be the equivalent of a Reconciliation movement. One pro-indy politician stands as an Indypendant in the 73 HR26 seats. No party. Target 50 wins. Then watch global reaction.
Fletch is right here. And his adult point is a lot better than my childish take-down; when was the last time you heard a Scot pronouncing month as moonth. Tiresome, aren't they 😶
Scotia is a spider choc-full of these parasitic English wasp grubs, eating the host fae the inside.
Well, since I ordered mine two weeks ago, I must be ahead of the curve then. Or something 🤔
According to the Cool Scots calendar, this is the day you order a new one. Get it here: gregmoodie.com/product/cool-…
The obviously anglophile son of Sarko being as scarifying as possible about 🇲🇫. LePen WILL win, but that won't be the catastrophe that he predicts. Im no fan but she's de-clawed herself. The political class don't like it uppem.
The crisis is capitalism 🙄

Today's wisdom in the Cool Scots calendar, and as usual, it's excellent advice.

There were two shameful periods in the History of Glasgow University, the first of which is the following story.
At the Battle of Culloden Moor, the Butcher Cumberland ordered his troops to make sure no Highlander was left alive, so over two days they moved among the dead and dying, putting a sword to anyone who moved or moaned in agony. Glasgow University, on hearing of the victory, honoured the Butcher with this certificate!

SO WE ARE NOT A COLONY?
Following the victory at the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746, the Duke of Cumberland orchestrated a deliberate, systematic campaign to crush the Jacobite threat and dismantle the fabric of Highland society. His approach shifted the British Army's focus from standard warfare to punitive pacification, making no distinction between active rebels and innocent civilians.
The pacification of the Highlands was executed through two phases: immediate military reprisals and long-term legislative subversion.
1. Immediate Military Reprisals (The "Butcher" Campaign)
Cumberland established his base of operations at Fort Augustus in May 1746, deploying mobile redcoat columns across the Highlands to execute a scorched-earth policy: [1, 2]
Orders of "No Quarter": On the morning after Culloden, Cumberland issued orders to give no quarter to wounded Jacobite soldiers. Government troops combed the battlefield and surrounding areas, summarily executing survivors.
Scorched Earth & Starvation: Regiments targeted communities by burning down homes, settlements, and Episcopalian/Catholic meeting houses. Troops systematically seized livestock and cattle. Because Highland communities depended almost entirely on cattle for sustenance, this confiscation triggered widespread starvation and exposure.
Mass Imprisonment and Transportation: Thousands of suspected Jacobites were arrested and packed onto prison transport ships anchored in the River Thames. Due to severe overcrowding and disease, mortality rates were extremely high. Survivors were subsequently transported to colonies as indentured labourers.
2. Legislative Subversion (Dismantling the Clan System)
To permanently neutralise the Highlands as a geopolitical threat, the British government passed sweeping statutes aimed at forced cultural assimilation and structural reform.
The Act of Proscription (1746): This legislation criminalised core expressions of Gaelic identity. It banned the wearing of traditional Highland dress—including the kilt and tartan plaids—for civilian men and boys. It also strictly prohibited civilians from carrying arms, and classified bagpipes as an "instrument of war," making their possession illegal.
Heritable Jurisdictions Act (1747): This structural reform stripped Clan Chiefs of their traditional judicial and military power. By replacing clan courts with a centralised royal legal system, the centuries-old feudal obligations between chiefs and clansmen were abolished.
Annexation of Forfeited Estates: The crown seized the lands of titled Jacobite sympathisers. These Forfeited Estates were administered by government commissioners who built military roads, established fortified barracks, and forced commercial agricultural practices onto the region.
Long-Term Consequences
These combined policies fundamentally broke the social cohesion of the region. By legally transitioning Clan Chiefs from paternalistic protectors into commercial landlords, the crown initiated an economic shift. Chiefs began prioritising profitable sheep farming over tenants, effectively laying the groundwork for the devastating Highland Clearances of the late 18th and 19th centuries.
