Recall how Trump and Vance attacked the reluctant Indiana Republicans for their cuckish cowardice. It turns out they didn’t actually know what was in the best interests of the party. Who woulda guessed? nitter.cf/jdvance/status/1999188…
This is insane! Here is a map of yesterday’s Indiana House results if they were drawn under the attempted Republican gerrymander map from last Fall. Thank you to @Vulst3 for breaking down the data to make this map. The gerrymander could’ve netted us a 9-0 or 8-1 map potentially!

When I read my first Tom Clancy novel I thought what most dated it, tied it to the ’90s, was its confidence—the belief in experts, the trust in institutions, the faith in technology. I wrote a whole essay about it, I found it so striking. These days, I think what most dates Clancy is how many of his characters are empowered with real responsibility in their early thirties.

James M. Patterson (@McGillPatterson) sits down with Samuel Gregg (@DrSamuelGregg) to discuss his new book, The Civilization of Commerce, which challenges the idea that free markets undermine morality and social progress. Drawing on thinkers such as Adam Smith and F. A. Hayek, Gregg explores how market economies depend on moral foundations and economic freedom. lawliberty.org/podcast/civil…

The University of Austin is hiring a new professor of classics. I have always said of @uaustinorg that if you asked me to dream up a fantasy solution to the problems of higher education, it would have looked a lot like this—only now it’s real. If you are an academic with an abiding passion for the good stuff—reading classic texts with brilliant colleagues and students who draw out the best in each other—I’d love for you to apply. I know I have lots of followers who meet that description. Come build something with us. jobs.lever.co/uaustin

My author copies of this fine collection—all pieces commissioned for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence—have arrived from @Liberty_Fund. Yours truly is on page 75, but there’s loads of good stuff within. For that reason, Liberty Fund is my #FF this week.

100%. It's not just Bill Watterson's lush art and funny writing that made "Calvin & Hobbes" so special to me as a kid. It's that Calvin was LITERALLY ME and every other precocious, mischievous little boy. If you have any boys, buy EVERY anthology of this strip you can and share it with them. They will love it. As an added bonus— Watterson does a wonderful job making Calvin's parents respectable, stable figures in his life. Calvin is, of course, always in trouble. But it's clearly a safe, loving home. Just one of the all-time great comic strips.
No one in the history of media knew the interior workings of a young boy’s brain better than Bill Watterson

The thing where one is obliged to pretend to believe this obviously false but politically convenient statistic in order to remain a liberal in good standing is one of those things that used to just kinda grate on me but after 25 years has driven me fully up the wall

I learn as much from Mont Pelerin Society excursions as I do from the formal program. Last week’s visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, hosted by Liberty Fund, offered a thrilling lesson in the ingenuity, competition, and experimentation that drive human progress. I even found myself sharing a lap with my friend Sam Karnick of the Heartland Institute, who had arrived from Chicago just in time for the excursion. Two and a half centuries into the American experiment, we’re still discovering how far liberty can take us. My latest for 1819 News. Oh, and to be clear: Sam and I didn’t hit 230 mph! 1819news.com/news/item/allen…

This past week, Liberty Fund was proud to host the 2026 Mont Pelerin Society Biennial Congress and General Meeting, October 11–15, in Indianapolis, welcoming 500 scholars and speakers from around the world. Under the theme “1776: Liberty in Conversation,” the gathering explored the enduring principles of liberty, from America's founding and Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations to today's economic, political, and cultural challenges. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, we were honored to bring this historic gathering to Indianapolis and continue Liberty Fund's longstanding connection with the Mont Pelerin Society.

Me acompañaron @saryle y @RobertoSmithP
