These quotes perfectly encapsulate Susan Collins' politics. She expects credit for votes where she had zero impact on the final outcome, all while voting with Trump 96% of the time. Maine voters were hoodwinked for a long time but that ended on Tuesday.
Senator Susan Collins to The New York Times after losing re-election: “Everybody ignores the fact that I voted to convict him in the second impeachment trial,” Ms. Collins said. “What bigger break could there be? It is never enough. I want results and they want angry rhetoric.” nytimes.com/2026/11/04/us/po…

Tricia Cotham ran as a Democrat, won, then switched parties so Republicans could pass an abortion ban. Republicans even redrew her district to protect her. She just lost by 14 points to Ken McCool, a 28-year-old Democrat.

Susan Collins trying to spin her loss to being solely about Donald Trump isn't surprising -- her strategy for the entirety of Trump's time in office was to say his actions weren't her fault, even if she voted with him 96% of the time. The reality is Susan Collins lost because voters were fed up with Susan Collins. Even at the start of this cycle, her negatives were worse than they ever were in 2020. And they never rebounded. Voters talked about Collins breaking her trust with them following the Kavanaugh vote. And they felt like she never stood up to Trump when it counted.

Mississippi’s young people have been a huge part of this campaign from day one. I’ve seen how much they care about their home state and how determined they are to build a better future for it. I’m grateful to every young Mississippian who believed in us, showed up and made their voices heard. THANK YOU for helping show the country Mississippi Matters!

Collins has always been one of the most cowardly and condescending politicians in America. Her whole career she's gone "it's not my fault I voted for what I voted for! I'm just very gullible and everyone tricks me!" Total disdain for the public.
Susan Collins refused to give a concession speech to her voters, but she did have time to give a long interview to the New York Times to explain the ways in which they were ungrateful.

Are you going to address this @bariweiss @Olivia_Reingold? This would be a fireable offense, if true, at pretty much any media outlet.
this is why I love working at @VanityFair yesterday, I saw half our staff clustered around our fashion correspondent's desk poring over this photo. As José puts it, "The image has several discrepancies. The style and make of the Chanel Flap bag is inconsistent with others the brand has sold, and the Valentino shoes in question appear askew in proportion; their straps have several punched holes that the authentic Valentino style does not." AI image detectors confirmed that yes, Olivia Reingold used an AI-generated image to make her point, without a drop of disclosure. Wild!!!! vanityfair.com/story/midterm…

Really, @SenatorCollins is just pissed that voters in Maine finally caught on to her scam. She voted against Trump when her vote didn't matter — like on impeachment conviction, where there weren't the votes anyway, or to protest Trump's Iran war, because that vote was literally meaningless. But whenever her vote actually could make a difference — when she had a chance to stop Brett Kavanaugh, when she had a chance to block the Big Beautiful Bill, whenever she's ACTUALLY the deciding vote for the Republican agenda — Trump could always, always, always count on her to say yes. Troy Jackson repeatedly made this point against her on the campaign trail. And she never had any rebuttal to it. Because it's true.
NEW: In a bitter post-defeat interview with one of her favorite beltway media errand-runners (Carl Hulse of The New York Times) Susan Collins lashes out, putting the blame for her loss squarely on the voters themselves; says Mainers lost sight of what matters. #MEpolitics

I can't let the night go by without offering a shout out and deep appreciation to all the poll workers and election officials, most unpaid, others underpaid, who put themselves on the line to give us elections with integrity, and often face threats or disrespect while doing so.

Unsurprising that Dan sees no permanent structural change having occurred under this particular reckless executive. It’s obvious to anyone not blinded by intense mind-addling partisanship.
Permanent, structural change is absolutely more damaging & enduring than a reckless executive.
