i had a chance to try Argon before joining deepmind but after using Carbon internally I can tell you that this team is absolutely cooking and we’re only just getting started.
Carbon is writing all of my code and I can trust it to run all night, for multiple days, making intelligent decisions autonomously.
there is still lots of work to do so we’re excited to get this in your hands and hear your feedback.
we can’t build AI for everyone without the community 🖤
I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model.
Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching.
We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards.
As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!
this is great for things like indexing knowledge from closed off, more niche communities but I can also see why this would be a disaster for privacy 🥲
The next Gemini model is out! read more here: blog.google/innovation-and-a…

Lots of Security incidents today, here's some practical tips for those who just wanna protect yourself:
1) UPDATE EVERYTHING - main targets are:
a) Browsers - Chrome, Safari, Firefox
b) OS: : Settings -> General -> software update; Linux: sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade; Windows: I think there's a button. Do this for any remote home servers & Openclaw/hermes boxes
c) Phones: Update it all
d) Desktop apps (Slack, Cursor, Discord, etc)
2) Limit web browsing this week: Stay within walled gardens (twitter, youtube, etc); don't click random links this week. Just wait until the patches go through. Do step 1 again after a week.
3) Avoid untrusted Wifi networks until your devices are updated
4) Stay vigilant about phishing emails offering "certificate fixes" or fraud updates
5) Have an iPhone 11-16? TURN BLUETOOTH OFF for the time being until apple patches come through.
6) Code/Dev: UPDATE ALL YOUR REPOS - @charliermarsh has already updated uv 0.13.4 which reacts to the eMudra incident for uv (Python), Typesript according to Claude has equivelant. Tell your agents to go and update all your active repos to update package manager across uv, npm, bun, cargo, etc etc
What advice did I miss?
wake up babe, every version of PHP for the past 17 years has two critical bugs and now 74.5% of the internet is broken lol. there's a patch coming out tomorrow but until then most of the internet has open backdoors that allow unauthorized remote code execution

We’re getting together with the Google Startup team at SF Tech Week to talk about Visko’s Live Models and Orbis, our foundation model for real-time interactive world generation.
We’ll explore why TPUs are particularly well suited for the demanding inference workloads behind Live Models, and what it takes to bring these real-time applications to scale.
Save your spot! RSVP link in the comments ⚡️
google cloud is hosting a live models fireside chat tomorrow in SF for SF tech week (w/ @viskoai)! We would love to see you there :)
