The C-Town Rivals Podcast

To be told that I bring wisdom to a football program and the young men I coach is a compliment I receive with tremendous humility and gratitude. After 30 years in education and a lifetime dedicated to football, I’ve learned that leadership isn't about pleasing everyone or doing things the way they've always been done. Not everyone will agree with my philosophy, my methods, or how I approach coaching, and that's perfectly fine. I have my own way of doing things, shaped by years of experience, lessons learned, successes, failures, and personal growth. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I do hope they recognize the purpose behind what I do. For me, coaching has never been solely about wins, losses, or X's and O's. It's about sharing wisdom, building character, instilling accountability, and positively influencing young men. If my approach helps even one player become more confident, disciplined, resilient, or better prepared for life, then my efforts have meaning. I don't measure my success by how many people agree with my methods, but by the positive impact those methods have on the young men entrusted to my care. If I develop better football players, I've done my job. If I develop better young men, I've fulfilled my purpose. Humbled by the recognition. Grateful for the opportunity. Blessed to continue making a difference. Paying it forward from those who poured into me believed in me, and who made a difference in my life.
