I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that my very first paper as the 1st-author is now available online in @Nature! Here, we show the incredible role of maternal milk-borne g-linolenic acid in promoting the maturation of cardiac mitochondria after birth

For those of us who are at peak levels of brown adipose tissue. A very nice basic video on BAT by @voxdotcom with a cameo by @acypess
Winters feeling colder as you get older? There’s science behind that! It’s got to do with fat — but not the kind you’re probably thinking of.

Everyone studying fat knows that brown fat is “multilocular” (contains many small lipid droplets). But how and why do brown adipocytes organize their lipid stores in this way? Excited to finally share my PhD work on CLSTN3β, now published online @Nature! nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Quick reminder: the end of the year/Dec is probably one of the worst times to submit a manuscript. Editors are overwhelmed and reviewers are all too busy. Christmas comes, then New Years, then Lunar New Year. Try Jan/Feb when everyone is fresh & desk piles have been cleared.
No one can deny there are incredibly useful metabolomic & lipidomic datasets generated every year. But what are the hurdles to sharing and re-using this data?

It was a great team cancer-genetics-metabolism reunion in the London office with @mvicaracal @MT_Genetics & @BarbMarte. Lots of strategizing for 2023 and chilling with the London @nature editors. Can’t wait to come back!
A really excellent series by @NatRevCardiol on diversity and inclusion in cardiology, covering clinical medicine and biomed research, viewpoints from cardiologists across the world, race, gender, equality, and equity.
