Ok @PetsatHome I deliberately choose to buy this 5l bag dog food online as it’s in a paper sack not plastic … but every time I collect in store it’s wrapped in huge plastic bag & metres of #plastic packing tape. Not v environmentally conscious & rather defeats my buying choice
Just back frm delivering my first *in-person* Self Care for Carers workshop in over 2.5 years. Great to be back in the room w/ people - and luckily I remembered to take tea, coffee and biscuits with me … right at the last minute! 😮💨 #priorities #carers #selfcare #caregivers
Found it difficult to stand & speak my truth in room full of psychiatrists today. They are representatives of system that’s consistently marginalised & ignored my knowledge/experience as a Carer over many years. That leaves a wound that takes a long time to heal #RCPsychIC22 #EbE
In half hour I’ll be taking to the stage with colleagues from @rcpsych Patient Safety Group to discuss failings in the serious incident investigation process, and what this has meant for me as a Carer #RCPsychIC22
“As psychiatrists we have lost what it means to be human” @DrChloeBeale speaking at #RCPsychIC22 #mentalhealth
Proud of my colleagues from the @rcpsych Patient Safety & Coproduction groups talking about patient safety. Recognising the need to empower those who haven’t had a voice, and how patients have a role to play in creating their own safety #RCPsychIC22 #patientsafety
Feeling nervous but proud to be bringing the carer perspective to @rcpsych International Congress today. I’ll be taking part in a session this afternoon about the problems w/ serious incident investigation process #mentalhealth #SuicidePrevention #RCPsychIC22
Last flight out of Exeter this evening, but finally on my way to Edinburgh … #RCPsychIC
Should be winging my way to Edinburgh for #RCPsychIC but currently stuck at Exeter Airport waiting for a very delayed plane … #borednow

128 days since I saw my daughter! All agree incl clinicians that after everything she’s been through in recent mths, not being able to hug her mum is having detrimental impact on her #mentalhealth - ironic for a @cygnethealth psychiatric unit that is supposed to be improving it!
When ‘support bubbles’ now allow people to stay in another family home without social distancing I see no reason why it remains impossible for me to visit - and hug - my own daughter in a psychiatric unit. How long will u deny me that right @cygnethealth @DHSCgovuk #mentalhealth
It’s 126 days since I last saw my daughter who’s in @cygnethealth psychiatric unit in London. In that time she’s suffered 3 bereavements on top of her own #mentalhealth challenges. All she wants is a hug from her mum but it’s not allowed! Time to change the rules - it’s inhumane

So let me get this straight: we’re all apparently having to wait for Boris Johnson to return to work to make any big decisions re Britain’s #coronavirus strategy - the same Boris Johnson whose shameful complacency ensured all our decisions to date have been late or wrong?

Two cases of #COVID19 in the psychiatric unit where my daughter is inpatient, amid staff shortages and the impossibility of social distancing in such a confined and restrictive environment. Feeling terrified for her wellbeing right now #mentalhealth #inpatient #SocialDistancing
