I watch Mer and Cristina dance it out with a smile and a tear every single time
Not every husband will understand this kind of bond

"ẹ ku ewu ọmọ" is the Yoruba greeting for surviving the literal & figurative hazard of pregnancy & childbirth. you're the one who knows what your eyes saw, say it! Your lived experience isn't up for debate, esp with people determined to minimize your suffering. Pay them dust

I really hope women never stop talking about their health experiences, from reproductive health and pregnancy to fibroids and ovarian cysts etc. There’s still so much we don’t know, and too many women are left navigating these experiences in silence and confusion.

At some point when I was not looking, the route to trad publishing started sounding increasingly similar to an unhealthy marriage Every market day, someone is preaching suuru at you, and the promise that it’ll all be worth it 🤕
I’ve had 2 agents and 3 books die on submission over the past 3 years. It can be easy to want to give up writing, but I can say with 100% confidence, KEEP GOING. You never know what book will be “the one”. The world needs your stories, and you’re the only one who can tell them.

quite a weird hill to die on. A woman says pregnancy ‘felt like a death sentence’ to her and people are arguing that it’s not the same as a death sentence. did you take any english/literature courses in school? were you not taught figures of speech or literary devices?

Male doctors on this app will tweet irresponsible things about women’s health under the guise of “education.” Banger boys and idiots will piggyback off said tweets, using it as a launching pad for misogyny and misinformation. Such irresponsible and unethical behavior.

See quoted tweet to continue. Yes, a lot of women have uncomplicated pregnancy and childbirth, in recent times due to medical advances, but do NOT ever downplay the violence that pregnancy is to our bodies End PS: my heart has never recovered from it

Every time +234 Xwitter argues with a woman’s lived experience of pregnancy, I will QT this thread - An MRCOG who has a cardiologist appointment in 6 weeks to manage the effects from pregnancy, now 13 years later As Una no dey learn!
Here’s a random list of the things my body (which had previously been through 3 miscarriages and 2 live births) threw at me during my last pregnancy As much as I can remember 12 years later… A thread 🧵 👇🏾 nitter.cf/deenprogress/status/15…

EL-SAYED: RFK JR. was in town this week. He said that the 500 million Arabs in the world had never contributed anything to science. But to be fair, he is an expert on people who never contributed anything to science. He didn't bother to show up when 8000 people were infected by the shit lettuce. But he wants to come here and lecture you about potentially electing and arab-american to the U.S. Senate My guy has zero doctorates. I have two of them

Another tweet in as many days referring to Nigerian Pidgin English in derogatory terms 1st, clearly you are not the target audience 2nd, how’s it our fault that your culture was not dynamic enough to create something new and beautiful from a language that was imposed on you? 🤨

31. While You Were Dreaming- Alisha Rai Sweet YA romance with immigrant/ undocumented family representation It was okay, but maybe I am too cynical and world-weary for this YA romance I am so determined to write bcos I couldn’t suspend disbelief enough to accept the storyline😏

From age 14 till he’s become responsible for himself, I get the son only one pair of shoes at a time Because he outgrew them like kilode and he was wearing size 45 as a teenager so we had to buy from American brands or custom made from Naija Wo! Parenting na scam 🤣
One term, (Week one O), my son lost one leg of his sport shoe. I almost cried. Got him a pair of sneakers in July this year in his size. August, we had a party, oya wo bata, ko ma size e! O ma dun mi o How do you go from a size 37 to a 39?? Emi Iya e gan, I wear 37.

This sounds great, as long as the passive “raising men” here is not laid at the feet of women Hold men accountable for their actions - that’s the only root Until then, women should arm themselves with whatever they need to navigate life, including their own money
Replying to @qaozy
It is raising men with empathy Families functioning like they should when issues arise Dealing with ourselves with the fear of Allah Of course, I am not against a woman making her own money but it shouldn't be in anticipation of a man treating her terribly.
