"ẹ ku ewu ọmọ" is the Yoruba greeting for surviving the literal & figurative hazard of pregnancy & childbirth.
you're the one who knows what your eyes saw, say it! Your lived experience isn't up for debate, esp with people determined to minimize your suffering. Pay them dust

I really hope women never stop talking about their health experiences, from reproductive health and pregnancy to fibroids and ovarian cysts etc. There’s still so much we don’t know, and too many women are left navigating these experiences in silence and confusion.

quite a weird hill to die on. A woman says pregnancy ‘felt like a death sentence’ to her and people are arguing that it’s not the same as a death sentence.
did you take any english/literature courses in school? were you not taught figures of speech or literary devices?

Male doctors on this app will tweet irresponsible things about women’s health under the guise of “education.”
Banger boys and idiots will piggyback off said tweets, using it as a launching pad for misogyny and misinformation.
Such irresponsible and unethical behavior.

Yes, a lot of women have uncomplicated pregnancy and childbirth, in recent times due to medical advances, but do NOT ever downplay the violence that pregnancy is to our bodies

EL-SAYED: RFK JR. was in town this week. He said that the 500 million Arabs in the world had never contributed anything to science. But to be fair, he is an expert on people who never contributed anything to science.
He didn't bother to show up when 8000 people were infected by the shit lettuce. But he wants to come here and lecture you about potentially electing and arab-american to the U.S. Senate

Atlantic was accusing an African writer for using AI last week. I just knew they were projecting. Every accusation is a confession.

Let no one be fooled by the fact that we may write in English, for we intend to do unheard of things with it

And so, when a critic says that she judged whether a story written by an African was generated by AI by sussing it out and relying on stereotypes about the continent, she is not saying anything new. In fact, she is part of a tradition that has placed art and literature coming from the continent on a platform to be judged before being turned over like a cadaver.
The west has always found language to reduce the brilliance of the African artist. It has always insisted that we are incapable of producing anything of genius that does not have its foundation in the West.

i hope we use this moment to close ranks, protect our writers and build our own ecosystem. through collaboration, we can have a vibrant and successful industry that doesn’t always beg and wait for western validation. we are capable!

They used our writing to train AI. Then used AI, trained on our writing, to check if we had used AI to write the writings we were still writing after they USED OUR WRITINGS TO TRAIN AI.

If a white person born in Australia can be Australian without Aboriginal ancestry, and a white person born in America can be American without Native American ancestry, why can't a Black person born in England be English without Anglo-Saxon ancestry?
