Census Bureau: Detroit has gained 11,000 residents over the last two years, representing the largest numeric increase in Michigan. The city has now grown by >1% since the 2020 count.

The Detroit Zoo opens its new Arctic Ring of Life Exhibit in Royal Oak, Michigan.
The 4.2 acre, $14.9 million exhibit is the largest polar bear exhibit in the world and contains a 70-foot long viewing tunnel that runs beneath a 300,000 gallon chilled saltwater pool and other arctic wildlife such as seals, snowy owls, and arctic fox.

Something I learned working for the city: a lot of Detroiters, from every neighborhood, want Detroit to be a suburb, not a city. Corner businesses, buses, apartments, walkable districts, bike lanes? No. Big box stores, wider roads, parking lots? Yes.
