I saw the bullet hit Charlie Kirk.
I saw him close his eyes and slump.

.@eva_terry02: Metro D.C. DSA Watch Party — Condoms, fentanyl test strips, and drug advocacy available to attendees. I just spoke with people manning a booth advocating for the total elimination of prisons and police.
It was manned by a woman who is a lawyer and graduated from GW and a man who works as a software engineer.

Replying to @INL
@INL is designing and developing the reactor for @NASA’s SR-1 Freedom — the first fission-powered spacecraft to operate beyond Earth’s orbit, targeting a late-2028 launch to Mars.
I spoke with @NRO's @eva_terry02 about @NASAAdmin’s vision, the engineering challenges of nuclear power in space, and why INL has spent decades preparing to help meet them.
I’m particularly encouraged by the opportunity to bring together NASA, @ENERGY's @Gov-Nuclear, the national laboratories, and industry around the technologies needed to expand America’s capabilities in space.
Important work ahead. 🇺🇸 Read the article: nationalreview.com/magazine/…
I wrote about @NASA’s comeback under @NASAAdmin Jared Isaacman for our most recent issue of @NRO’s magazine!
Read for details on the MOON BASE and the shift toward nuclear electric propulsion (thank you @john_c_wagner)!

Parents in mainland China are concerned about discrimination based on family size more than any other population.
Latest from @FamStudies and @NRO
“This is a real legacy of the one-child policy, which for decades punished people for having more than one child,” Benedict Rogers, the senior director of Fortify Rights, told National Review. “The state carried out forced abortions, people grew up with this indoctrination that they should only have one child, and I suspect that the legacy of that is still lingering.”
China’s tactics to enforce its one-child policy included a wide range of brutality. “There was a widespread policy of the state forcibly aborting children from families with more than one child,” Rogers said. Outside government-led punishment, the one-child rule aided infanticide of female babies, “because there was a culture of parents wanting their one child to be a boy,” he added.
Breaking the one-child policy also resulted in forced sterilization, workplace discrimination, fines, arrests, and other penalties. “It was enforced very, very cruelly,” Rogers said.
While the CCP has eased the rule to allow three children, China’s fertility rate still sits a little below one. “Perhaps the population hasn’t totally adjusted to that,” Rogers said.

How does the US have both abundant lithium and just one operating lithium mine?
I asked @A1Lithium, @cberry1, @protectwildutah, and @BLMNational for @NRO.
Hint: the answer rhymes with benvironmental bitigation and bederal bermitting
My favorite quote from @cberry1:
“As our quality of life has increased in this county, and as we’ve gotten familiar with creature comforts, instant gratification, clean air, and clean water, we’ve sort of forgotten what it takes to have them. Access to internet, access to clean water, computers, and technology — all of that stuff, everything we use — is either mined or grown. And a lot of what’s grown is grown with the help of things that are mined.”
Jack Dorsey at @bitcoinpolicy's Freedom Tech: "I don't agree with slowing [AI development] down. I don't think it's possible. I don't think it's something that advances humanity, and it certainly doesn't advance the technology."

“Truth Exists”: Covering the Kirk Case for a Year
In the year since Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University, conspiracy theories have swirled around the case.
Deseret News reporters @eva_terry02 and @emma_pitts_ were on the ground when it happened — and have covered the criminal case against accused killer Tyler Robinson step by step since. Here’s why they say the facts still matter.
This clip is from a roundtable with three Deseret News reporters who covered the Kirk assassination and its aftermath.
Watch the full conversation on our YouTube channel.
I have watched Charlie Kirk’s assassination on the backs of my eyelids a thousand times.
I see it differently now.
Sept. 10 is the day Charlie lost his life in the battle for the soul of Gen Z.
