More people should read/emphasize this and stop making up slop benchmarks.

The first test of this is looking very promising for us. Will report back as we scale this out across all our builds. Would recommend!
We've shipped Buildkite Cache, the first of several building blocks we're putting in place to make CI radically faster. We've learnt a lot from how the fastest companies in the world run their CI. Great caching isn't just one technique, it's several working together: what you reuse, where it lives, and which work you can avoid doing in the first place. We're starting with a save and restore primitive to control cached files across jobs, on hosted or self-hosted agents. You choose what goes into the cache key, when to fall back to an older entry, and which builds can share the cache. There's a lot more coming. buildkite.com/resources/chan…

The IT team in the state of Rhode Island understands theres nothing like an end to end test of a system to figure out if it works and what to improve.

Thought this was remarkable: Energy developers like Williams demand a 3-4x greater return when building in states like New York compared to states like Oklahoma due to the unpredictable/burdensome state regulatory environment. A very clear permitting x affordability story.

"this is our last chance at generational wealth... I've gotten too old to not be greedy" People think its just Federal govt that's shady but the expenditures, shenanigans and corruption are often happening in the states because they don't share visibility. 1.22T of it in FY25!
I have read the charging document alleging a series of criminal acts by a member of the Virginia Senate. In our American system of justice, people are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and that is true for Senator L. Louise Lucas. She and her family deserve the opportunity to present their defense and speak to the allegations presented. The timing of this indictment undermines the U.S. Department of Justice’s previously longstanding policy of not taking legal actions — to include indictments or significant investigative steps — close to an election and sadly, this timing further erodes the trust the American people deserve to have in the Department of Justice.

Our ability to build in the real world is regulated at the state levels and the amount of shenanigans going on is more than anyone understands.
California hasn't built its bullet train because the state has required 130,000 pages of environmental reports, making absurd demands like: • counting bumblebees one by one • rebuilding woodrat stick huts • hiring specialized dogs to sniff lizard scat

Some of the funnest work I've ever done. Took a long time with a cracked team! And started before the advent of LLMs being useful for coding. A long term bet that I'm thankful we got the green light to go for.

Rewriting the 𝕏 Android app was also a big deal. It was really bad for such a long time.

Incredible work
"Federal employees should be rewarded for what they can do, not for how long they’ve been on the job." Today, we @USOPM eliminated the historically anti-merit principle of gating promotions for top performing employees based upon their time in seat. No longer - merit prevails over tenure! usopm.substack.com/p/talent-…

Begging the good people of @Amtrak to please just get Starlink on every train ASAP. There is nothing to “test” it’s just that good. Shouldn’t take very long relative to an airframe(?)

Anybody done this for E-ink? I have a custom one I'm printing a frame for but am thinking of adding more and it seems onerous.
You should 100% do this as a weekend project I ended up converting my old Microsoft surface into one of these apartment displays and it’s got my apartment camera, walk ideas, transit / bay wheels on it

Very interesting! Now that I think of it, I actually don't think I know a single person with a +$1M net worth who drinks (or at least gets drunk). Interesting correlation. My wife and I stopped drinking when she was pregnant almost 5 years ago and we haven't touched alcohol since.

What did you build. Why was it hard. How does it work. How does that thing work. How does that things thing work. Why did you opt for that instead of XYZ. How does that other XYZ option work. The bar is still how competent you are even if the act of writing is done by a agent.
