New study: The common practice of attributing the post-1750 rise in atmospheric CO2 entirely to fossil-fuel combustion is mathematically inconsistent with available isotopic data. Using Keeling plot analysis on instrumental records and historical reconstructions, the study finds a stable carbon isotope intercept (𝛿13C𝐼) dating back to 1500 AD despite a 10,000-fold increase in human emissions. Human activity thus cannot be the main cause of atmospheric CO2 changes. “Fossil carbon is a negligible component of the net atmospheric CO2 addition.” The authors' conclusion is derived from IPCC-endorsed data and rest on mathematical certainties. Thus, critics cannot dismiss it without explicitly rejecting foundational principles of arithmetic and mass conservation, standard isotopic values, or the primary measurement datasets themselves. scienceofclimatechange.org/w…

If you are a sane, rational person who can perform simple maths and cares about the economy of their country and the future of the people within it, then you should be livid with the government this morning. There is no part of the proposed EU reset terms, that you should be remotely happy about. The entire deal is giving the EU what it wants, and dressing it up as a benefit for the UK when it is anything but. - Promising to not deport EU criminals - Paying billions a year to build infrastructure in Eastern Europe - Subsidizing EU students to study in the UK, costing hundreds of millions a year - Putting UK laws in the control of the EU again, with no say at all from Parliament - Adding hundreds of millions of costs onto imports from non-EU countries - Making imported EV cars 30% more expensive, to help EU car manufacturers - Giving 80-100,000 extra youth visas a year, increasing competition and driving down wages for our unemployed youth - Stopping checks on imported agrifoods, increasing risk of diseases currently rampant in EU livestock entering the UK All of this with the reason of making exporting food to the EU easier, which we do virtually none of and never did, as we are an island that consumes more than it produces. It doesn't matter if you ultimately want to rejoin the EU or not. This isn't about that. This is about an atrocious deal and our atrocious government. Fight this with everything you've got.

To illustrate the point, we have had both high and low frequency events both today and yesterday and now one of the tree-burning plants at Drax has tripped out.
Replying to @7Kiwi
Empirical analysis of 15-second frequency data vs system inertia shows the grid is becoming harder to manage. Frequency volatility is rising as average daily inertia falls. Operators are working harder to stay within limits. Now NESO has stopped providing inertia data. (4/12)

The more details come out of this atrocious Labour EU Reset, the more I question their allegiance to this country and whether or not they are in fact bought and paid for by the EU. Their actions are wholly treasonous. Nothing of benefit at all to the UK economy.

This will cost the UK taxpayer in the region of £500 Million a year, to subsidize all the EU students who want to study at the much better UK universities.

Wind, solar & biomass renewables are not cheap & not particularly clean either. If you really want to reduce electricity bills you need to abolish carbon taxes, end renewables subsidies and stop grid expansion. Then start a crash programme to rebuild firm generation capacity
The only way Britain can take control of its bills and bring them down for good, is to reform our energy system so we are less exposed to global energy shocks. Last week's Budget was about giving people breathing space with the cost of living, while we continue driving towards cheap, clean power - with affordability as my number one priority. Strategy has already burned through 92% of its flexible cash reserves since Aug. 30, leaving just $133 million left. It's already spent about $2.25 billion buying back $STRC this year. At the recent rate of cash depletion, the remaining cash could be gone within days. What happens to STRC's price when Strategy can no longer afford to support it? @saylor

An excellent piece here on the totally fictional narratives that Burnham is trying to sell about the EU. Please do share it far and wide. "Burnham’s case for rejoining the EU rests on invented narratives, not facts" @bernardjenkin #Brexit politics.co.uk/2026/11/burnh…

So just to be clear in this UK-EU Reset - the UK is offering: 🐟 - £12 Billion worth of fish 🛂 - 80,000 youth mobility visas a year 🧑‍🎓 - £450 Million a year for EU student subsidies 🏫 - £800 Million a year for Erasmus membership What in the hell are we getting out of this?

More CO2 has always supported more life on land an in the seas. Net-zero is anti-life.
High CO₂, extreme warming—and thriving fish populations. @JoanneNova discusses two studies that tell a very different story from the familiar predictions of catastrophe. During the PETM, 56 million years ago, massive volcanic activity released enormous amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. Global temperatures rose by 5–8°C. What happened to the fish? Zhou and colleagues (2026) examined fossil fish teeth and scales from six ocean drilling sites. Their accumulation was five to eleven times higher at some sites than before the warming. Strong evidence of a major increase in fish productivity. They also found evidence of increased transport of organic carbon into the deep ocean. Their explanation: additional nutrients from weathering on land stimulated the marine food web, overcoming the effects of stronger ocean layering. Britten and Sibert reported similar findings back in 2020. Yet these results receive little attention. Without Nova, Clintel and others keeping them in the public eye, this research risks slipping into obscurity.

The growth in Network Costs can be largely attributed to renewables. Expanding the grid to connect remote renewables, extra backup and much higher balancing costs are driving a forecast tripling of grid integration costs from 2024/25 to 2030/31.
Another false claim is that network costs would disappear without net zero. But this is nonsense because even if all our electricity was generated by gas, we would still need investment in transmission and distribution.

Replying to @ClarkeMicah
Did you not read the post? There was only a provocation if you believe Russia has the right to control Ukraine. Otherwise it's just Ukraine looking out for its on interests, as it is entitled to do as free and independent state.
