"A hazing incident." Seal Team 6 guys killed him after finding out he had reported their theft of government $$ and trafficking of local African women. The authorities pretended to prosecute the two ST6 operators involved but let them out of prison as soon as attention died down.
Please help me honor US Army Green Beret Staff Sergeant Logan Melgar. On June 4, 2017, the 34-year-old engineer sergeant was killed in Mali during a hazing incident by fellow special operators who broke into his room, restrained him, and applied a chokehold that led to his death by asphyxiation. From Lubbock, Texas, he served with the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) after enlisting in 2012, completed Special Forces training, and deploying twice to Afghanistan. Survived by his wife Michelle and their two sons, Melgar was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, leaving a legacy of service and a case that exposed serious issues of accountability within elite military units. Never forgotten.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Death ruled homicide by asphyxiation. Two SEALs and two Raiders charged with felony murder for chokehold in planned hazing to film sexual assault. Convicted of manslaughter/hazing; sentences 6mo-18mo after reductions. Theft cover-up motive alleged, denied. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of… news.usni.org/2021/01/24/sea…

To be clear, the only reason I was able to reach Heidi was because young Palestinians provided cover with rocks against machine-gun- and tear-gas-wielding settlers and soldiers. It’s those kids, not the settler terrorists, who the IDF was hunting after the attack.
This is @infinite_jaz rushing to help Heidi under fire from Israeli settlers slings

SHOTS FIRED: EDDIE JOHNSON GOES AFTER LANDON DONOVAN 😳🇺🇸 On his podcast, Landon Donovan urged caution over the hype surrounding 17-year-old Cavan Sullivan, referencing several highly touted American prospects, saying: “I saw it with Freddy Adu. Santino Quaranta. I saw it with Eddie Johnson. I saw it with Gio [Reyna]…” Former USMNT forward Eddie Johnson responded on Instagram 👀👇 🗣️ “I can’t speak for Freddy Adu or Santino Quaranta or Gio Reyna, but I will speak for myself, Landon Timothy Donovan.” 🗣️ “You talk so much shit about every other young upcoming player in the past but yourself.” 🗣️ “He came back home where it was easy for him, and now he talks shit about kids doing more than he did in a league he failed in.” 🗣️ “I did everything you did with fewer opportunities and [am] still considered one of the best strikers this country has seen.” 🗣️ “I salute these young boys for sticking it out in Europe and not taking the easy way out for a paycheck … and less pressure.” 😯😯😯

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day. And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.

The ICE agent seen brandishing an AR-15 at the scene of yesterday’s shooting in NYC’s Marble Hill has an auspicious record of lying, excessive force & getting caught by judges. He also goes by “Shooter Cuni” on social media, & posts the exact same gun he had on him today

Didn’t realize this but blood supplies are often critically low. I am going to start donating blood more. People of all ages need it desperately. An act as simple as making one donation can save multiple lives. 🩸 🏥

Not waiting until you leave congress to start lobbying is impressive
New: Jasmine Crockett was offering government relations & lobbying services on a campaign-funded website. It was taken down after Zeteo reached out. Experts say they’d never seen something like this before + that it tests the limits of ethics rules & law.zeteo.com/p/jasmine-crockett…

"Under communism they'll find a way to arrest you for anything and you'll be work in a gulag" Meanwhile capitalism
Incarcerated people in Oklahoma are working in call centers... and sometimes they make calls on behalf of conservative super PACs. They described doing as many as 800 calls a day, facing performance quotas, and delivering conservative scripts they didn't fully understand. All they make is $2/hour, while the Department of Corrections gets $10/hour. We need to close the slavery loophole in the 13th amendment. Aside from the fact that it's immoral to exploit incarcerated people for what's basically slave labor, these call centers generate a lot of profit. There are plenty of Americans who can do those jobs for a living wage. They shouldn't have to compete with a captive population who's coerced to take a small fraction of what the labor is really worth.

It’s only been a few hours since the first viable Muslim Senate candidate won a primary and his GOP opponent is already running ads featuring Osama bin Laden and 9/11. The Islamophobia over the next few months is gonna be vicious.
I spent my life hunting terrorists. I never in a million years thought I’d hear the words, “America deserved 9/11,” but here we are. Michigan — we’ve got a state to save.

From a new Shawn Fain op-ed in Newsweek: After being made aware that Governor Whitmer was going to be making a statement, I reached out. I told the governor that we knew Ford could afford to do better for workers, and that she should stay out and let us handle our business. She chose to make statements anyway, carrying Bill Ford’s water. I was floored. A Democratic governor in Michigan—the home of the UAW, whom we had enthusiastically endorsed—picked a side. It was the side of the companies. We won anyway. newsweek.com/democrats-must-…

The Economist doesn't understand how good "eco-authoritarianism" sounds to the youngest denizens of the dying corpse of the neoliberal war state, where it's 100 degrees in upstate New York and Trump is this close to doing drone strikes on endangered grizzly bears
The Chinese Communist Party, once famous for pillaging from the natural world, has set to protecting parts of it. But the country’s “eco-authoritarian” approach deserves scrutiny bit.ly/4x4lWge Photo: Getty Images

continues to boggle the mind that this gets like 1/50th the coverage as the accusations against Platner.
According to newly released court filings and allegations, Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), son-in-law of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), poured hot water on his wife, put a gun to her head, and may have broken his two year old daughter's collarbone.

People keep asking if Wisconsin is ready to elect a democratic socialist governor. But in my conversations with voters, people care less about labels and more about ideas, values and solutions. There's only one majority in Wisconsin, and that's the working class.
