Court is missing a crucial bit here. Apart from recovering the challan dues from vehicles, municipalities and traffic police department also should be made to pay fine from the officers salary as they have been allowing hawkers on footpath and roads.
Also, challan amount should have a late payment fee and interest like how credit card companies do.

This is not a traffic problem alone—it is a law-and-order problem on our roads.

Incident: 2 Nov 2026, Ashabari (Boxanagar, Sepahijala, Tripura) near Bangladesh border. BSF (49 Bn) detained suspected smuggler Hefzur Rahman during anti-smuggling ops after spotting a parcel thrown across the fence. Mob of ~50 villagers (men/women) attacked with sticks/rods, assaulted 3-4 personnel incl. Asst Cmdt Rohit Kumar, vandalised vehicle, briefly snatched a rifle (recovered). Personnel did not fire.
Status: FIR vs ~19 for attempt to murder, weapon theft, obstruction. 9-10 arrested (incl. 3 women); 7 men in police custody, 3 women in judicial. CM ordered strict action. Probe ongoing.

Across India, many roads are designed dangerously: rainwater drainage or poor understanding of road geometry leads to the wrong crossfall—and, on curves, banking/superelevation is provided in the wrong direction.
This is not a minor error. It directly endangers lives.
Engineers who design, approve, and execute such unsafe roads must be held accountable, and transport ministers should face legal notices for allowing these failures to continue.
Safe road design is not optional. Correct camber, drainage, and superelevation are basic engineering requirements.

On 3 Nov around 9:23 pm at Umang Apartment (A Wing, Mathuradas Road), Kandivali West, an unidentified man approached an elderly woman at her flat door, pretended to seek an address while showing a paper, then snatched her gold chain and fled. CCTV captured the full sequence; he had followed her into the building.
Kandivali police registered a case on her complaint and are investigating via the footage. No arrest or identity of the accused has been announced as of 5 Nov evening.
This clearly indicates there is no default compliance, fear of law or fear of consequences of not following the rule of law.
