> 25% drop in the last month
> still up 25% year-to-date
The #VIX just spiked 60% in one day.
Overwhelming odds that volatility is lower and the #SPX is higher 21 days from now:
> average VIX move: -38.1%
> average SPX move: 3.2%
Sample size of 5 going back to 1990.

Historic 1-day move in ew consumer discretionary $RSPD
Fwd median returns above baseline:
• 21d later 3.9% (vs 1.2)
• 63d later 4.4% (vs 2.8)
2008 and 2020 cluster definitely skew results but I still believe this is a strong signal esp considering we were <7% from ATHs the day before
Hey everyone,
If you are reading this, that means TaPlot has unfortunately passed away.
I am his oldest son, and I want to take a minute to sincerely thank every one of you that supported him throughout this fight, you helped him keep his motivation, but you also helped me a lot. When I was feeling worried about him, I would often go to his page and read all the supportive comments, and they would give us both so much hope.
He was a great dad, he never stopped fighting, not even in his last week. I sat beside him and told him he could rest and I was proud of him, and he simply shook his head. He still wasn't giving up.
It hurts losing him, because, losing my father means I lost the only man who ever truly wanted me to be better than himself.
I will not be deleting any of his posts, everything will stay here as it was.
There's one more thing I want to leave everyone with.
When my dad died, the cancer died too. It wasn't a loss, it was a tie. He's at peace, and the cancer isn't. So if you really think about it, he won. 🕊️
Value ETFs are outperforming their growth counterparts.

I've always heard a divided gov't has generally been favorable for markets.

Updated midterm chart with current cap- and equal-weight S&P 500 paths $SPY $RSP
Equal-weight is doing a much better job of following the seasonal pattern.

@itmrandy with a really interesting note this morning.
I’ve been hearing everywhere people talk about breadth improving while the indexes are simultaneously drawing down. That’s not surprising given the selling pressure in tech and the mega cap stocks.
What is surprising is how great of a divergence we’re seeing.
Randy gives you the data.
October was volatile.. there’s no denying that. But something bigger is happening under the surface.
There is a fundamental shift away from the Mag-7 stocks right now.
While the indexes stuttered in October, a majority of the market actually did alright.
Important note from Randy here this morning for anyone managing actual money. randysdailyprint.substack.co…
