In the end the shadow is but a small and passing thing. There is light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. Find the light and the shadow will not find you. — Rings of Power

Like a real version of Great Expectations. When Patrick Stewart was 12, growing up in poverty in Yorkshire with a violent father, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand changed his life. Dormand introduced him to Shakespeare, put him in his first play and helped pay for a residential drama course that his family could scarcely have afforded. Stewart only discovered years later that his teacher had helped cover the fees. The frightened working-class boy would eventually become one of the world's most celebrated actors, but he never forgot the man who first believed in him.
In 2004, Stewart, now chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, personally presented his old teacher with an honorary doctorate. He later invited Dormand to the celebration of his knighthood. When asked to say a few words, the elderly teacher joked that he didn't know what to call Patrick anymore: for decades, Patrick had called him Sir. When Dormand died in 2021, Stewart wrote that his teacher had been the most significant person in his life. The boy had become a knight, but his teacher remained his Sir.

In this story JD shares that he panicked & took his kid to the emergency room when he was totally fine. Instead of being relieved by that good news he got upset that there are translators in the hospital helping the sick. This must’ve been before he was Catholic.

The firing of Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia by Pete Hegseth does not pass the smell test.
NOTHING coming from this administration does.
Pelley: One of the stories that CBS sought to kill on 60 Minutes was our story about the capitulation of the law firms. And the Trump administration, after that story was on the air, called the leadership of CBS in California and said, “We’re going to sue you for that. We’re going to sue you.”
Ultimately, they didn’t, but to that point, that was one of the stories that caused so much trouble with CBS.

Historian Sarah Paine: Putin's invasion of Ukraine was a pivotal error.
He would have done much better sitting on Crimea and Donbas and slowly destabilizing Ukraine over years. Instead he has massively contributed to Ukrainian national identity. 1/
Ok...
Let's look at what's happening right now. We are seeing a coordinated effort of media and "influencers" breaking news stories and fear mongering headlines in social media RIGHT BEFORE AN ELECTION.
Do the math.
This isn't news. It's part of a coordinated effort to stir up chaos and fear. Do not let this bullshit deter you. Stay focused.

We cannot normalize this. This is utterly fucking insane that the United States JUSTICE Department would be doing this.

Good to know RFK Junior gets to speak freely while not being blackmailed at all for sexually assaulting his babysitter!
Since RFK isn’t familiar with Persian, Arab scientists historically during their golden age (8th-13th centuries), here are a handful who made their mark in Baghdad’s house of wisdom while Europe was living in the dark and most couldn’t read:
Al-Khwarizmi - Persian polymath
• Invented algebra
• Created algorithms (used in your phone today)
Tusi - Persian mathematician
•pioneered trigonometry
Ibm Al Haytham
•Persian. Born in Basra, 965.
•invented calculus 600 years before Newton
•Volume of a Paraboloid.
•Sum of Fourth Powers
•Also worked on optics and scientific method.
The work of Alhazen were frequently cited during the Scientific Revolution by Galileo Galilei, René Descartes, Johannes Kepler, and Christiaan Huygens but western textbooks leave him out.
Al-Kindi
• Pioneer of cryptography
• Basis of modern passwords
Hunayn ibn Ishaq
• Christian scholar
• Translated 100+ Greek medical texts
Banu Musa Brothers
• Built automated machines
• Early foundation of robotics
Omar Khayam
•Persian Mathematician. Reformed the solar calendar. Poet
His calendar is more accurate than Gregorian calendar
Ibin Sina - persian father of modern medicine. Cannon of medicine used in Europe for over 600 years
Al Zarawi - 936 cordoba. invented over 200 med instruments Europe copied in 1200s in Latin
Biruni - father of anthropology, comparative religion and pharmacology and more
Persian astronomer Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi, writing in his Book of Fixed Stars, described a "nebulous spot" in the constellation of Andromeda
Jabir Ibn Hayan - (geber) invented chemistry. Born in 721. Built 1st lab. Built alembic for distillation
•Retort for heating substances sublimation. •Cucurbit for extraction of substances
•Discovered sulfuric acid, Nitric acid and HCl.
Ibn Khaldun- real father of economics and sociology
before Adam smith he wrote the same theories on econ only over 400 years earlier.
1377 - wrote Muqadimmah
When goods are scarce, prices rise and VV. Supply and demand
When taxes low, people work harder, government collects more revenue - Laffer Curve by reagonomics.
Ibn Khaldun came up with it first
Why do empires rise and fall
Ibn Rushd (Averroes): was an Andalusian polymath and jurist who was proficient in a variety of intellectual fields, including philosophy, theology, medicine, astronomy, physics, psychology, mathematics, neurology, Islamic jurisprudence, law, and linguistics.
The author of more than 100 books and treatises!
Their contributions in a nutshell:
Algebra, algorithms, decimal numbers (0–9), cryptography, astronomy, surgery, chemistry, genetics, economics and more:
Alarm clock → Al-Jazari (1206 CE)
Toothbrush → Muslim medicine (600 CE)
Soap → Arab chemists (8th century)
Mirror → Muslim craftsmen, Spain (11th century)
Coffee → Yemeni Muslims (1400s)
Cotton → Arabic "qutn" (800s CE)
Europe has ZERO renaissance period without the works of Persian and Arab polymaths they freely borrowed from and don’t credit!
And RFK junior’s legacy is defending Israel, being a r@pist, defending big pharma and standing by Trump!

EL-SAYED: RFK JR. was in town this week. He said that the 500 million Arabs in the world had never contributed anything to science. But to be fair, he is an expert on people who never contributed anything to science.
He didn't bother to show up when 8000 people were infected by the shit lettuce. But he wants to come here and lecture you about potentially electing and arab-american to the U.S. Senate
My guy has zero doctorates. I have two of them
My belief is that this sudden change has nothing to do with maximizing trump’s time. The multiple protestors at his hate rallies have really bothered trump because he can’t handle the truth. He now wants to be coddled in his safe space. Weak.
NEWS: Trump's in-person Iowa rally this weekend, scheduled for Dubuque on Sunday, has been canceled and replaced with a tele-rally, according to three sources familiar with the decision. The idea is to maximize Trump’s time and reach as many voters as possible, one source said, and tele-rallies allow him to cover more ground.

it’s also pretending to be an expert or pretending to have some kind of special insight
Adult bullying is dangerous because it rarely looks like bullying. It looks like gossip, fake concern, silent exclusion, damaged reputations, and people pretending to be innocent while secretly destroying someone's peace.
Some adults will spread lies about you, turn people against you, withhold information to make you fail, and then stand back and watch you struggle. When you finally react, they point at your reaction and pretend they were never the problem.
That is the most disturbing part of manipulation: the person causing the damage often works hardest to make the victim look guilty.
Never confuse age with maturity. Some people grow older without ever growing kinder.
