Around a third of patients don't respond to cardiac resynchronisation therapy. And up to 10% of implants fail to reach the target vessel at all. Conduction system pacing aims to fix both — by recruiting the heart’s own His-Purkinje network instead of working around it. @KennethEllenbo1 (VCU, past president @HRSonline) joins Professor Rudd (@jhfrudd) on the Heart podcast for a primer on conduction system pacing 🎧 🎧 Apple: apple.co/4ePEjPk 🎧 Spotify: bit.ly/4zM5FxM 🎧 Podbean: bit.ly/4ibCjls ▶️ YouTube: bit.ly/4eNn29o 📄 Paper (free to read): bit.ly/4i9PjId #CardioTwitter #EPeeps #MedEd

A patient's BP reads 180/100 on the ward. Do you treat it? Inpatient hypertension is one of the most common things we act on — and one of the least evidence-based. Dr Tara Chang (Stanford) makes the case that reflexively reaching for as-needed antihypertensives may be doing more harm than good. Medicine is a distinct & elite profession & I’m getting tired of people trying pretend that there’s a shortcut to the years of hard work it takes to become a doctor Tiered rotas are nothing more than gaslighting patients into worse care I’m glad it’s being called out publicly
