Hot take: @ashxhart is doing incredible work for the benefit of anyone running local AI on a Mac. The local AI community funded him a 512GB Mac Ultra in less than 24 hour! What a great group! 🚀🚀🚀
But it's totally embarrassing for @Apple that he has to run a donation campaign for $30,000 to make AI on Apple Silicon better for a company worth (checks stock page...) 4.855 TRILLION DOLLARS. C'mon @johnternus at least send him a t-shirt or a MacBook or something, or move his order up in the queue! 🤦♂️
£24,000 raised in less than 24 hours. I still can't quite believe it. 🤯
I started TensorFold in February 2026 and archived it three times because I couldn't get the idea to work. I worked on MCDMA in between, then finally cracked it and released TensorFold with Qwen 3.8 27B.
I thought a few people might use it. Maybe I'd get the odd GitHub star.
When the 512GB M5 Ultra Mac Studio became available, I ordered one. Then my loan fell through because the bank wouldn't accept my X income as regular income.
I thought I'd have to cancel and admit defeat, but you guys didn't.
More than two dozen of you encouraged me to set up a fundraiser, so I did, and I hoped it might make the cost manageable.
You covered the entire cost of the Studio, with more donated directly to fund even more hardware. 🥹
To everyone who's donated, subscribed, shared the fundraiser, contributed code, tested builds or let me use their machines, thank you. 🫶🏼
The support has been beyond anything I could have imagined. ❤️
I can't wait to get the Studio here, push TensorFold further and share the results with you.
You've made something possible I couldn't have done alone. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
This community rocks!!!!!

I talked about spyware with @csoghoian at Mozilla Festival last week.
Chris was among the very first people who spoke out against companies like FinFisher and Hacking Team 15 years ago, helping raise the profile of a then little known industry.

The local Ai community is just wild 🤯😍
I’m incredibly great full and inspired to push TensorFold even further to give back to every single one of you 🫶🏼
We did it! Local AI community is so powerful!
Less than 24 hours to help @ashxhart to get an M5 Ultra 512GB to push TensorFold to the next level!
WE ARE THE OPEN AI! 💪

open weights have gotten much better since I wrote RAPTOR, so much so, this weekend I set about making our standalone raptor chat client that leverages local LLMs only (no need for Sam to tell you your memory should be his)
Still lots of testing but..

Breakfast Read. T-3 to Wednesday LGE 📊
There are 4,485 wards in South Africa. More than 50% of the names on ward ballots for the 2026 local government elections belong to someone standing in more than one ward. Long story here about this loophole, but this week let’s pay actual attention.
Before you vote, please double-check how many wards the candidates on your ward’s ballot paper are standing in. Someone on the ballot in multiple wards is not invested in service delivery, your problems, and the community.
Why: Your ward vote elects a councillor, but it also counts towards each party's share of council seats (PR seats), even if a party’s candidate in your ward loses.
Parties therefore put names of candidates on as many ward ballots as they can, and often the same person shows up on ballots, ward after ward. In Johannesburg, there are candidates who are on the ballot in all 135 wards; and similarly in Ethekwini candidates feature in as many as 112 wards.
Search for your address or locate your ward on the map to see who's standing in your ward and where else they may be standing.

Recommended feature to try: 📈 generate an infographic showing details of how your ward voted (overall turnout was dismal that year countrywide 😮💨) and performed in the 2021 LGE, so you can make the most informed decisions now.
Water, stormwater drains, refuse removal and the size of the potholes in your community are political. It’s our business. Get in line. #CountryDuty #Elections

TEMBA BAVUMA. The greatest South African captain by miles. Before this test series he was unbeaten as captain in tests but his team got defeated, mocked by opposition in the first test.
He didn't say a word. He waited and replied with a marathon 179 with the bat, took his team's total to 425 from 110/6. Then bowled out them twice in a match where almost 150 overs vanished due to rain.
Then the third test. After a brilliant start, they could manage only 329 and conceded a lead of 100. At the end of day 3 they were around 140/4 which means 40/4 in the context of the game.
His team fought back on day 4. Took the lead to 280. And then on the fifth day his bowlers ran havoc through the Aussie batting line up. Two matches, two generational comebacks and this man won't stop here. What a leader. 🐐❤️

Be like @ashxhart
The person behind TensorFold.
> Grew up in the UK
> Spent 7 years in tech support
> Joined a friend’s food delivery tech company
> Spent 2 years there as a PM
> Went back to his first company as Head of Technology, still there today
> 15+ years across software, DevOps, AWS, networking and cybersecurity
> Became the 4th-line support guy, the one you call when nothing else works
> Started exploring AI on the side
> Spent 6 months building a local inference engine in private
> Archived it three times
> Launched TensorFold anyway, expecting maybe 5-10 users
> It blew up in the first few days of launching
> 1.5k+ stars on GitHub
> Top Local AI builders started contributing
> Rewrote it in Zig with the community
> Built MCDMA so Macs and NVIDIA boxes can share memory
> Linked two Mac Studios over Thunderbolt 5
> Shipped a model that keeps learning while you use it
> Got a DGX Spark donated to keep building TensorFold
> Went from 300 to 9k+ followers in 4 weeks
> Called on the UK to build its own open model
And the story’s far from over.
We need people like Ash to push forward Local AI and Personal AI.
Truly an inspiration! Follow him, you will thank me later.
Honored to partner with him to make TensorFold part of the @YukonResearch challenge.
The local community is absolutely on fire with the @darkbloomai @yukonresearch @eigenlabs TensorFold Challenge.

TensorFold 1.2.0 is here!
Once release a day keeps the doctor away.
TensorFold engine 1.2.0 is out 🙌
Qwen3.8-27B with MLX 4-bit weights and DFlash2, compared with 1.1.9:
• M3 Ultra: 14.4% faster decoding with one stream, 44.2% higher combined throughput with 16.
• M5 Ultra: 5.8% faster decoding with one stream, 25.2% higher combined throughput with 16.
New support includes:
• MiniMax-M3.1-Flash on Metal.
• NVFP4 Qwen3.6-35B-A3B and dense EXL3 Qwen3.8-27B on CUDA.
• Gemma 4 E4B on Intel Arc Pro B70.
The measured speedups kept matching tokens. Qwen-VL image replies can differ from 1.1.9 because image preparation now matches the checkpoint's own processor.
Huge thanks to everyone credited in this release:

Guys - so many recipes out there for Deepseek 4.1 1017. This is, STILL, by far, the best one I have used. Better than all the @MiaAI_lab recipes. Faster, consistent, no denials. TRUST ME. If you have 2 sparks. This is the one you want.
