The Clash's āLondon Callingā has some incredible stories: a bass smashed over concert security, an Elvis-inspired cover, and a song added so late it missed the track listing. Here are five surprising facts. zurl.co/xAWYC

This and 'Ghost Town' are still my favourites by the legendary Ska/2-Tone group. Terry Hall's lead vocals were recorded in a "bored vocal" and "angry vocal" mixing the two together. Became their first hit single, peaking at #6 in the UK.

Benjamin Moser, author of Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History, told Rashid Khalidi that his 80-year-old mother, who had all but called him a Hamas member, apologized after reading his book: āIām ashamed I ever said I was a Zionist.ā
His book traces Jewish opposition to Zionism over the past century and challenges their exclusion in discussions over Palestine. āNo, you donāt get to set the rules anymore. Weāre setting the rules now,ā Moser said.
Khalidi added that he had never seen so many people change their views so rapidly, noting that major publishers are now embracing books on Palestine that would have been virtually unpublishable just three or four years ago.

HELL TO THE NO.
We have far too much militarism and forced conformity as it is.
One of the most radical institutions in America, abandoned since the Vietnam War, is exclusively deployed in service to imperialism: universal conscription. But what if we turned that same model inward towards the tasks of liberation? Drawing on his experience as a college professor and West Point graduate, Cyrus Cappo argues for a mandatory National Public Service Corpsāa radical project to rebuild infrastructure, integrate alienated youth, and hand real leverage back to the working class.
