#WATCH | Srinagar, J&K | Speaking at an event, former Congress minister Mani Shankar Aiyar yesterday said, "For a South Asian voice to arise, India has to make peace with Pakistan and to resolve its border issues with China. Both of these require dialogue. For the last 12 years, we've not even had high-level diplomatic relations. We seem to have the courage to go into surgical strikes with them. Why don't we have the courage to sit across the table? Why can't we talk to them? Why can't we make friends with them?"

🔴 THIS IS MORE THAN A PROTEST — IT IS A DEMAND FOR SYSTEMIC CHANGE
A historic moment is unfolding on the streets leading towards Parliament.
What began as a march has, according to the speaker, grown into a much larger gathering of students, unemployed youth and citizens from across the country.
Their message is not merely about one person or one resignation.
It is about the questions that affect millions:
🎓 An education system that fails to provide meaningful education
💼 An economic system that fails to create adequate employment
🏛️ A political system that fails to provide convincing answers
The young people described in the video did not come merely because someone called them, paid them or organised them. They came to raise questions about education, unemployment and their future.
And that is where democratic resistance becomes meaningful.
A RESIGNATION MAY BE A DEMAND — BUT SYSTEMIC ACCOUNTABILITY IS THE GOAL.
Removing one individual cannot by itself solve structural problems.
If young people are demanding change, the response should not be dismissal, intimidation or silence.
It should be:
Listen.
Answer.
Engage.
Reform.
Be accountable.
The energy of public protest must ultimately be transformed into constitutional, peaceful and sustained democratic action.
Because democracy is not merely the right to vote every few years.
It is also the right to question power, demand answers and peacefully insist that institutions serve the people.
🔥 Let the voice of the youth be heard.
Not for chaos.
Not for hatred.
Not for violence.
But for education, employment, dignity, accountability and a better democratic system.
From a street march to a movement for systemic change — that is the real question before the country.

After many, many years I have heard a speech by a reviewing officer which is free from hyperbole, which talks sense and can actually be useful to cadets about to be commissioned.
Do listen to Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of Naval Staff, addressing the POP at OTA Chennai.
“You will do well to remember this. Your rank may give you authority, your character will give you credibility but only your leadership will win you loyalty. Never confuse the three”.
Why isn't the army asking these questions?

Demilitarisation of the Siachen Glacier can be the next step to peace in South Asia. Claims can be frozen like in the Antarctic. It is ridiculous to continue to deploy troops at heights of twenty thousand feet when sat surveillance, an air force and drones can do the job.
Interesting and important discussion; critical questions; and need for clarity.
