MTU-17, the only Marine reserve unit on the island. That night his commanding officer called. Put on your boots and utes. Report in the morning. September 12. One Police Plaza, then the pile. Bucket brigades. Rubble by hand. Twelve hours on, twelve off. No machines. They still thought people were under it. He stayed through the end of September at One Police Plaza. Then he volunteered back onto active duty. Orders to CENTCOM on the Marine Corps birthday. Afghanistan by the end of November. He would serve two tours there. He was a captain then. He retired a lieutenant colonel.

111 mph in a construction zone. No excuse. Recently during morning rush hour traffic, two deputies conducting traffic enforcement on westbound C470 near South Wadsworth Boulevard observed a motorcycle weaving through traffic at an extremely high speed. They clocked the motorcycle traveling 111 mph in a clearly marked 65 mph double fine construction zone. The rider was stopped near South Wadsworth Boulevard and West Chatfield Avenue and taken into custody. The investigation also found that the rider had a suspended driver’s license, no motorcycle endorsement, and was operating a motorcycle that had not been registered since 2018. The 19-year-old rider was booked into the Jefferson County Detentions Facility on multiple charges, including reckless driving. Speed limits are not suggestions. At 111 mph, one bad decision can become everyone’s emergency. The charges are merely legal allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent of the charges against them unless and until they are proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Montview & Chester. The tunnel saga isn’t over…. A white pit bull with a pink collar was standing alone by a storm drain on Montview a week or so ago when Good Samaritan pulled over to help when. A man came out of the storm drain holding a large knife, grabbed the dog, and dragged her into the sewer. 911 was called. Police arrived quickly and said there is a homeless encampment in the sewers. This matches what other neighbors have been reporting (and videoing) at Chester & Montview: a man living in the tunnels on the Aurora / Denver line that run under the @denverpolice Academy. Neighbors think the dog’s name is Mella and that the sewer man is holding Mella and wants a $200 Apple gift card for her return. @AuroraPD and DPD have been contacted. So far, neighbors say no one has been able to get the dog back. A dog is being held captive in a tunnel under the police academy for a $200 gift card⁉️ WTF, people. #LostDog #FindMella

We just visited the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid, the so called "8th Wonder of the World". This place is absolutely insane. They literally had alligators in there, a shooting range, bowling lanes and even a whole hotel. Genuinely felt more like an amusement park than an outdoor shop.

We made it all the way to West Memphis yesterday. We didn’t realize it in the dark, but we can actually see the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid from our window. Now we’re trying to figure out what to do in Memphis today. It’s insanely hot outside, so we’re looking for something indoors.
