Excited to feature our recent work ChartSeer in #Nightingale #DVS on exploratory visual analysis and vis recommendations @mingming_fan @mia_mifeng
It's easy to get lost when working with an unfamiliar dataset or problem for which you have no goals or only vague hypotheses. @jeffjianzhao introduces ChartSeer & other major solutions that assist with the exploratory visual analysis of #data buff.ly/2KxFrvE #dataviz

Roshan is asking the hard question to our temperature #haptics panel "how will the future of thermal feedback look like: is it VR, affective, or what else?". Great discussion! #CHI2020 #STT20 24/N

.@rochci meeting in a VR space hosting @mingming_fan. Nice to go around the table and 'relive' the experience of being in close proximity to each other. Audio-visual mechanisms need improvement. Thank you Dr. Fan for braving the presentation w/ your exciting work.

The dangers of data-driven AI are real, but “AI ethics” is a category error. When ur tech helps police target ethnic minorities, ethical problems don't start or end w/ facial recognition. If u ask, “Can AI detect people’s sexuality?,” ethical challenges are not just about AI.

A terrible policy idea, that displays little understanding of disability or the performative ways in which people use social media. A slippery slope of people in government (or, worse, "AI" algorithms) monitoring online presence to impact govt benefits: forbes.com/sites/imanibarbar…
