This lie has been repeated by @JohnTory and his allies/supporters many times. The mayor is only committed to working with people who'll give him what he wants, which is to starve the city of funds so public services deteriorate and he keeps his low tax promise to house owners.

In his inaugural speech, Mayor John Tory notes the city has some challenges in front of it. To solve those challenges, he says he is “committed to working with every single member of city council who is willing to work with me to get things done.”
The Greenbelt may seem an abstract thing we’ve taken for granted for a long time.
Walking it reveals it’s precious, beautiful and that we’re very lucky to have it though. It’s worth fighting for with all we’ve got.

Petition: Toronto just elected new progressive & diverse voices across the city. In response, Mayor Tory asked Doug Ford to take away their democratic power, our democratic power, so he can win votes with the support of a minority of council. Take action: progresstoronto.ca/our-city

My @TorontoStar column: the city’s photo radar camera on Parkside makes about $250,000 every month, and will remain in place for a while yet.
It’s bad news. These cameras were supposed to lead to real road safety changes. That’s not happening fast enough

My latest: The Charter of Rights is being dismantled before our eyes. The constitutional bargain of 1982 is unravelling. Time for the feds to get serious.

Part of being a federation — a country, a nation — is to stand up for rights, in every part of the country. A nation that shrinks from doing that, because it is afraid of the response, has already ceased to be one in all but name. /7

I feel that the main difference between Tory and me is that he just wants ‘to be’ mayor; I want ‘to do’ as mayor. It’s an end for him, it’s a means for me. This is why a city vision is irrelevant for him; absolutely critical for me. Radically different.
And I’ve got news for you: Absolutely no one wants to hear what your plan is for their uterus.

I’ve got news for President Biden. Come January 22nd, we will have Pro-Life majorities in the House and Senate and we’ll be taking the cause of the right to Life to every state house in America! 🇺🇸

An engaging discussion on @theAgenda's Twitter Spaces now re: why the public reaction to Toronto's deterioration is so muted. I think the answer has its roots in 2012 when TTC Manager Gary Webster was fired for telling Council that LRT was much more practical than a SSE. (1/?)

@JohnTory plans to cut funding to libraries. One of the most person-uplifting institutions that exist. And he's going to cut funding because austerity is all he knows.
Bathrooms locked, garbages overflowing, fountains off in heatwaves. Mr Tory's leadership has been a failure.
