Alex Smith says he was ashamed of his leg and bitter toward football until rehabbing alongside wounded service members changed his life
“In my rehab process, I'm so thankful I got this thing called the Secretary of Defense designation, which is this deal for civilians that are deemed to have what's called a warlike injury. And so I got access to military medical care because there were no athletes for me to look to that had gone through something like this at that point. When I had half a leg and they're moving body parts down and it was like, hey, so and so did this and came back to play. There was nobody. The only examples of any positivity were people in the military through the decades of wars in the Middle East and roadside bombs and IEDs that there were a lot of servicemen and women that had severe lower leg injuries, severe tissue loss, severe breaks. Which through the infection and the hit was kind of like where I was at”
“So I got to go down and do my rehab at this military center. It doesn't matter what branch of the military you're in. If you have a severe limb injury, this is where you go. And it's in San Antonio, Texas. And it's called the Center for the Intrepid. And it changed my life. Again, I was super ashamed of my leg. It was grotesque looking and I kept it covered. I was ashamed of it. It represented everything that I had lost. I was really kind of struggling with my new normal. And I'll never forget going down there from day one. The military believes in this thing called group suck. Doing hard things, it's better to do them together. And so when you go down to this rehab center at the Center for the Intrepid, there are no private rooms. There's just one great big open room and it's surrounded by windows and everybody does their rehab together”
“I'll never forget my first trip there again. I couldn't even stand on my leg. I got it all wrapped up. I've got this steel cage bolted keeping it together. And there's double amputees, there's triple amputees, there's terrible burn victims. And nobody is hiding behind their scars. Everything's out in the open and people are moving forward with their life. And the physical therapist, Johnny Owens, walks behind the desk and gets a football and comes back to me and he has me get down on my good knee. And again, mind you, I'm very bitter towards football at this point, and I got three young kids, two boys that love to play catch with their dad, and I have not touched a football from the day of my injury. And now this is four months later”
“He brings out a football, throws it to me again. I'm on my one good knee on the ground, and he has me start playing catch. And this is from 10 feet away. And I'll never forget the light bulb going on of like, I can still play catch. Like, what else can I still go do. And it was the only place in the world where those guys were egging me on and goading me into you can do more… And that's the first day I said I wanted to play again was that day”
Oh Canada
New 30 km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30 km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area.
Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer.

Stop paying your income taxes and the government can seize your bank account. That doesn’t mean you’re renting your money from Washington. Property taxes don’t make the government your landlord any more than income taxes make it your employer. Taxes are obligations, not ownership agreements.

Tampa's 2017 budget $907 million
Inflation-adjusted 2026 equivalent $1.239 billion
Tampa's approximate 2026 budget $1.900 billion
Increase beyond inflation $661 million
Amendment 3 would account for about a 10% reduction in revenue, far less than the excess spending in the last 10 years equals. The City of Tampa under Democrat leadership is milking the taxpayers dry, while promising retaliation by cutting services if their frivolous spending is curtailed.
Stop your gaslighting. Need help cutting? Look here:
Spending area FY2026 amount Why it must be questioned:
1. Parks and recreational programming $71.6M Recreational activities beyond basic public park maintenance
2. Community redevelopment agencies $59.7M Tax revenues directed toward designated redevelopment districts
3 Economic development $37.4M Government involvement in stimulating private-sector development
4. Municipal golf courses $7.8M City operating a recreational business - Are you freaking kidding me?
5. Convention center and tourism capital $3.195M Public investment supporting conventions and tourism
6. City Assets funding $2.4M Assistance to designated organizations or city-related assets
7. Streetcar funding increase $2.0M Additional support for a specialized transit service that few people ride
8. Social Action and Arts nonprofit funding $1.0M Discretionary public funding for nonprofit organizations - AKA Crony Slush Fund
9. Development and Economic Opportunity contributions $500K Additional nonprofit and economic opportunity funding
10. HART Route 1 funding increase $400K Additional funding for a particular public transit route - Cybercabs are here at a fraction of the cost!
But crying “We will have to cut public safety” sells better.

Almost every candidate this cycle is trying to address the issue of rising costs that have battered families in the post-Covid era, yet how many are addressing the reason why things have become more expensive in the first place?
The institutionalization of massive borrowing and spending is a formula for persistent inflation and declining purchasing power.

Senator Cotton is right. Permanent Daylight Savings has been tried and Americans didn’t like it. The better way is permanent Standard Time because it’s based on science. No dark mornings, it keeps our time in sync with the Sun, and no more changing the clocks. Arizona has been on Standard Time year round since 1968 without issue.
No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter. Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I’ll always put Arkansas first.

I’m genuinely confused about the standard here.
If a woman and a man both voluntarily get drunk or take drugs and then have sex, why is his intoxication treated differently from hers when determining consent?
Either intoxication affects someone’s capacity to consent or it doesn’t. So what exactly is the legal standard, and is it applied equally to both sexes?
And if consent given at the time can simply be taken back months or years later, then what weight does consent at the time actually hold?

Crazy to think about how Trump could’ve had one of the most successful and popular presidential terms in modern American history… and they completely punted it.
He was elected by a historic coalition and was the first Republican to win the popular vote in decades because of two issues: inflation and illegal immigration.
Inflation was already falling after the Covid and Biden era spending. All he had to do was close the border, conduct mass deportations, and let the economy/AI cook while pushing through deregulation.
Instead, after explicitly running on ending foreign wars, he immediately started a war with Iran which has taken over the entire term. Inflation, energy prices and mortgage rates have all climbed and are heading in the wrong direction. His approval is at an all-time low. He sacrificed his own domestic agenda for a war in the Middle East alongside Israel.
Republicans are now going to lose the House, possibly the Senate, and the next 2 years will be nothing but DC gridlock and investigations. The odds of handing America to the far-left in 2028 have also dramatically increased.
