In India, a group of uncles plan to subvert the A.I. that is replacing them, in Pranav Bhasin’s mockumentary that celebrates the weirdness of regular intelligence. newyorker.com/culture/screen…
Interestingly enough, the last two books I read were about two opposite ends of the spectrum of a human.
No Country is about a cold-blooded murderer. It reads like a warning. The wise old can't understand the new world; hence, no country left for old men. Meanwhile, Sorrow Beyond is about two of the most universally human topics: mother and death. A short book covering decades of life of a mother, with a backdrop of war, and written by the son himself.
No Country is written screenplay-first, so often it does not feel like reading a novel. And the semi-autobiographical nature of Sorrow Beyond makes the writing ethereal. Both books are beautifully written.

Saw someone say that movies don't look good nowadays and I was confused because all of these came out this year.
"I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art" is a flawed argument because most people don't want to make art. They want to be content creators. No one wants to spend the time learning the craft. The more I talk to Gen Alpha, the more I believe in that.
Chuck Palahniuk spent years on the craft of writing. He wrote Fight Club to bend and break the writing techniques he had learned over the years. He wanted to use the fictional rules of Fight Club as a literary transition device.
And my prediction (more so, what we are already seeing) is that all the efficiency AI is bringing will be a flood of content creators, which will be new-gen + older-gen folks who are doing X, but creating content seems only a "growth strategy" for personal and professional reasons.

Introducing unshot.studio
Months ago, @pbshgthm and I started wondering what a tool for creatives should look like.
At @1StepCloserLabs, making things had stopped feeling like making things. Most of our time went to the manual work: writing prompts, managing files, juggling chats, carrying context around by hand, and copy-pasting between tabs.
The models were already good enough. What was missing was a way to direct them without drowning in all of that.
So we started building Unshot, for ourselves first. We used it on real projects we shipped, and fixed whatever got in the way.
Today, every one of our projects runs on it.
Soon, more agencies and creative people will be using it too :)

Hi, it's Darshita. I am a designer.
And I'm pitching myself in public 'cause I'm done with a year full of anxiety.
Everyone says design is dead and AI killed it. But the real parasite was hiding in plain sight.
So here's my film, DESIGN IS DEAD. She's bold, fearless and very PINK 💖

i need artists.
to clarify, not looking for prompt engineers. artists. people who can listen to a story and draw an inspired character from it. people who’ve worked close to animation are preferred.
we’re in the middle of a moonshot and i want more people in the room to help us pull it off. i’ll work closely with you every day alongside other brilliant artists.
6 months, Mumbai, flights on us. you be good, we handle the rest.
there’s AI in the pipeline. if that’s a dealbreaker, no hard feelings, i get it. if you’ve been waiting for someone to use it properly, holler.

The Good Father is a page-turner. Taxi driver meets Boyhood is best I can describe it without revealing too much.
If you love PTA, get this book by @brofromanother - delightful read with beautiful images.
