A summit photo with Vladimir Putin will not free a single prisoner, feed a single family, or give Eritreans a vote. Isaias Afwerki arrives in Moscow with no mandate from his people: no elections in over thirty years, a National Assembly silent since 2002, a 1997 constitution left on the shelf, and a generation trapped in indefinite national service. Trade and "security cooperation" signed by one man will be used to keep that man in power, not to protect Eritrea.
EBRF offers something different: a peaceful, time-limited transition to constitutional rule, independent courts, and an elected government that decides war and peace in the open. That is the partner the Horn and the Red Sea need — not a personal regime shopping for protection abroad.

Isaias Afwerki has arrived in Moscow for the Russia Africa Summit, where regime media promise talks on trade, energy, food security and security cooperation and a meeting with Vladimir Putin. We in EBRF see a dictator shopping abroad for protection. Eritreans have not voted in over thirty years, the 1997 constitution was never implemented, and our young people are held in indefinite national service. No meeting with Vladimir Putin will feed our people or free our prisoners. Security cooperation with Isaias only means more tools to keep one man in power. We in EBRF have a plan for a democratic transition through regime change, and we are organizing for a free Eritrea that works with the world through law and accountable institutions.

As @phelemawi reports, EBRF members met in public in Seattle this weekend and held chapter discussions in Israel. They asked hard questions, heard answers from their leaders, voiced disagreement and decided together on the next steps of a peaceful struggle. Nobody was jailed for speaking.
Inside Eritrea that ordinary civic act has been forbidden for more than two decades. There has been no national election since independence, the National Assembly has not met since 2002, the 1997 Constitution remains shelved, and those arrested in 2001 have never seen a courtroom.
These town halls are a working preview of the Eritrea that @BlueFront90547 is organizing for: a peaceful, time limited transition, an implemented constitution, independent courts, an elected parliament that decides on war and peace, and an end to indefinite national service.
Host governments should protect Eritreans who attend these meetings from intimidation, pressure on their families at home and the coerced 2% tax. Defending this civic space abroad is part of confronting PFDJ transnational repression.

This weekend, from our public meeting in Seattle to chapter discussions in Israel, we in EBRF met openly, debated freely and decided together on the next steps of our struggle. Inside Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki and the PFDJ have made exactly this impossible for more than two decades, with no national election, no National Assembly since 2002 and a constitution locked in a drawer. Our town halls show the Eritrea we are building, and we have a clear plan for a peaceful, democratic transition through regime change. We ask our partners to protect Eritreans abroad who join these meetings from intimidation, threats against their families and the coerced 2% tax.

The PFDJ embassy in London calls its seminar "Country Above All", yet regime supporters boast of raising more than £275,000 in a few hours for a war no Eritrean was ever allowed to debate. A country is its people. Eritreans have not voted in over thirty years, the 1997 Constitution remains frozen, and our young people are held in indefinite national service. Diaspora money collected under this pressure does not defend Eritrea's coast or sovereignty. It funds the survival of one man's rule. EBRF calls on Eritreans in the UK to withhold their money from the PFDJ and invest in a peaceful, time limited transition to an elected government.

Isaias Afwerki's embassy in London has called Eritreans in the UK to a seminar titled "Country Above All", and regime supporters now boast that more than £275,000 was raised in under two hours. We in EBRF ask which country is placed above all when Eritreans have not voted in over thirty years and our young people are held in indefinite national service. This money will not defend Eritrea's coast or its sovereignty. It will keep the PFDJ in power. Eritrea is best protected by a free government chosen by its people, and we in EBRF have a plan for a democratic transition through regime change.

Yohannes Abraha, known as John Black, is free after more than 500 days, and veteran journalist Martin Plaut rightly calls him a political leader important to the Eritrean cause. His case showed how far the PFDJ's reach extends: a former conscript who fled endless national service, branded a criminal back home, his family threatened and lies spread about his past. Peaceful protest against a dictatorship is not a crime.
John Black returns to a movement that has grown. What began as Brigade N'Hamedu is now the Eritrean Blue Revolution Force, @BlueFront90547, with a political process, a diplomatic missions team led by @BeyeneGerezghe1, and a clear program: a peaceful, time-limited democratic transition, a constitution finally implemented, political prisoners released, and free elections for a parliament that answers to the people and decides questions of war and peace.
Transnational repression against Eritreans in Europe and North America must be confronted by host governments. And Washington should engage Eritrea's democratic forces, not only the regime in Asmara.

I’m so pleased. He is a political leader and important to the Eritrean cause
Yohannes Abraha, known as John Black, is free. For over 500 days we stood with him on this platform, and today we want to say what that campaign was and who carries it forward.
From March 2024, weeks after his arrest in The Hague, we wrote in English, Dutch and Tigrinya to Dutch courts, prosecutors, ministers, the Hague municipality and the press. We told his story: a former conscript scarred by the PFDJ's endless military service who fled to the Netherlands for freedom. In November 2024 our movement in the Netherlands organised support for the legal defence of John and his comrades.
Before his trial on 12 August 2024, we asked @RechtspraakNL and @Het_OM to see the political motives behind the case. When the prosecution demanded 4.5 years and the court gave him 4, we called for a fair reassessment and said that protest against a dictatorship is not criminality. In December 2024 we exposed how the regime spread lies about his military past inside Eritrea and threatened his family. We shared his message from prison urging Eritreans to rise peacefully, and we counted every day: 490 days, then 536 days. All along we warned that Isaias Afwerki's PFDJ uses festivals, embassies and loyalists to extend its repression into Europe.
That struggle grew into the Eritrean Blue Revolution Force, EBRF. Born as Brigade N'Hamedu, EBRF today has a political process, a diplomatic missions team led by Beyene Gerezgiher, lobbying in Washington DC and allies such as the Red Sea Afar movement. We stand with all Eritrean forces ready to open the prisons, implement a constitution and hold free elections. EBRF has a plan for a democratic transition through regime change in Asmara.

I agree fully with what is stated here by the Eritrea Minister of Information. May I thus ask why his government is not complying to it? Eritrea was one of the first countries endorsing and recognising Russia’s forceful annexation of Crimea and supports its war on Ukraine.
#Eritrea’s Principled Position Regarding the Ongoing Situation with Ethiopia
"Sustainable peace and genuine security in the Horn of Africa is predicated on, and only when the international community insists upon, absolute compliance with international law. Expansionist doctrines, unilateral demands to forcefully incorporate foreign sovereign territory, and revisionist border claims must be permanently repudiated in favor of absolute respect for the sovereign equality of all states".

@BeyeneGerezghe1 in DC to meet with US foreign diplomats. ‼️‼️
PFDJ cadres, embassies and propagandists are panicking. They are rushing to hold public seminars from Bologna to Melbourne and calling for a national conference, selling the diaspora a fantasy of strength and asking for money, while loudspeakers in Eritrean cities summon mothers and fathers to a war Isaias Afwerki started. This is a regime detached from reality.
The region is moving on without it. In Tigray, a federal interim administration has been formed, and former interim president Tadesse Werede says the TPLF leadership has driven its own organisation into the grave. Ethiopian officials now say that same leadership is hiding in Eritrea. Isaias is tying our nation's fate to a collapsing TPLF old guard.
At this decisive moment, Mr. Beyene Gerezgiher, head of the EBRF diplomatic missions team, is in Washington DC for high level meetings together with EBRF lobbyist Elias Gerasoulis. We are presenting a credible democratic alternative: a transition plan, a constitution, free elections, the release of political prisoners, and lawful partnership with our neighbours for mutual benefit. EBRF has a plan for a democratic transition through regime change in Asmara.

While PFDJ cadres tour the diaspora from Bologna to Melbourne asking for money, and loudspeakers in Eritrean cities summon families to yet another war, EBRF is doing the patient work of diplomacy. As @phelemawi reports, EBRF leader @BeyeneGerezghe1 is in Washington DC this week for high-level meetings together with EBRF lobbyist @EGerasouli35992.
That contrast says everything. One side offers slogans, fundraising and mobilisation. The other offers a written plan: a peaceful, time-limited transition, constitutional governance rooted in the 1997 Constitution, free and fair elections, an elected National Assembly, the release of all political prisoners, and lawful, mutually beneficial partnership with Eritrea's neighbours.
The region is already moving on around Asmara. Eritreans deserve a government that answers to them through the ballot and the rule of law, not one that ties the nation's future to other people's wars. @BlueFront90547 stands ready to be a credible, accountable partner for that democratic future.
We urge US policymakers to engage seriously with Eritrea's democratic forces: @StateDept @AsstSecStateAF @SenateForeign @HouseForeign @RepJoeWilson @TiborPNagyJr
