IP protection is like locks on a door. You can leave your front door wide open and expect people not to steal. Or you can be wise and put measures in place (fence, dog, cameras, lock). I'd rather lock the front door. Squatters are real. They kick you out of your own IP.

I'm not selling. And this could be spam. I often get offers for people to buy my companies, Igniting Souls and Instant IP. (The answer is no.) However, this was the first email I received when someone offered to buy me. It made me smile, because I've been saying it for years. Each of us is intellectual property. We have been created by God to create. All the unique ideas God gives us are intellectual property. Unfortunately, very few people understand their value or their IP. AI stole my @TEDx talk. Here's the TRUE story below, but first, do you remember this quote? "If you're listening to this, you are The Resistance." I had to Google the origin of this quote. Do you know the source? Terminator Salvation. Do you know the context? "In the movie, it is a rallying cry broadcast over the radio to scattered human survivors by the iconic resistance leader John Connor to unite humanity against the rogue machine network, Skynet." How relevant is this quote for our world today, especially in our fight against AI? Fight? You decide. Personally, I use AI every day. If you do, then you probably agree that we're all beneficiaries. AI is NOT the enemy, but it's not your friend either. AI will steal your ideas. The biggest problem lies in how these AI models were trained. Most of them stole from creators like you and me. And this is only my experience. Imagine this multiplied across millions of people across thousands of cities. Am I bitter that AI stole from my friends (including some of you reading this, for example) and me? The truth is I'm not. What bugs me is that these AI Labs receive billions and billions of dollars in valuation and funding, without giving a penny to the creators they stole from. Even worse, AI is serving up our intellectual property as outputs, confusing users and leading them to believe it's their own IP. This isn't just unfair, it's also immoral. I created this image using AI as satire and posted it on my social media accounts. The responses have been super enlightening and polarizing. Feel Like The Times They Are A-Changin'? If so, you’re not alone. I just returned from the @Abundance360 Summit for the second year in a row. The event took place at @TerraneaResort in Los Angeles. The beauty was breathtaking, and being surrounded by robots was surreal. Of course I met many humans too. These proven experts are some of the brightest tech minds on the planet. They shared promises and hope and a word of warning. We’re responsible for the next chapter with AI, robotics, longevity, and tech. We can’t opt out or claim ignorance. I’m still digesting all the content. I think it will take a few weeks. Already, my mind is on fire with how to create more solutions. A research study done by the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2006. They asked teachers to take their preschool class to 2 different playgrounds in a nearby busy city. The playgrounds were exactly the same except for one thing. The first playground had no fence. However, the second playground was surrounded by a fence. In the first scenario, the children remained huddled around their teacher. They didn’t explore or play. Rather, they stayed by her side afraid to venture out. But the second playground produced different results. Here the same children played on all the equipment and freely explored all the way up to the edge of the fence. I love that story. In a way we’re all still children on the playground of life. Intellectual property protection is the fence that allows us the freedom and safety to keep exploring with our ideas. It tells others, hey there’s a boundary here. You can’t just come in and take whatever you want. It gives people an incentive to invent things. Our legal system grants rights to creators since we all benefit from new ideas. Without IP protection there would be less incentive to invent medicines, products, and brands. But the height of a fence matters. Too low of a fence and no one wants to create because they’re ideas can get stolen. But too high of a fence and no one wants to create because it costs too much time and money—like patents. Similar to goldilocks and the 3 bears we need a solution that’s just right… not too high, not too low. Blockchain is the perfect height and the perfect solution. If you could see yourself the way I do (confession, rant coming)... I am sick of people who think poorly of themselves. I can pick up on it in seconds, because it used to be me. I just read a post and it was full of poverty thinking. The person was stuck in a deep pit of low self image. This same person is also struggling to make their ends meet. And, worst of all their post is all about selling themselves as a coach to help others. They are charging for their program, at the same time admitting they have nothing to offer! I feel for this person. But I see this so often. We don't see ourselves as God sees us. God calls his children a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD! I didn't believe it at first, but then I went on a deep journey to rewire my brain so I could see myself as God sees me. I applied this concept, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." To go from a guy addicted to self-injury (cutting) in my teens and early twenties to someone who now helps the worlds top influencers publish and protect their IP, I've come to realize it ALL starts with how we see ourselves. Too many creatives, authors, and entrepreneurs (privately) believe they have nothing to offer. They think they're not unique or special. No wonder they don't think they have intellectual property. No wonder they don't believe ideas need to be protected. I can SEE this because I used to BE this. Then something changed...my identity. Because I SAW myself differently and SPOKE about myself differently, a flood of creativity and value was unlocked. I could now focus on other people (not my low self esteem) and I began creating value for others. I created so much intellectual property and in the process and I began protecting those ideas.
