Because he needs Clyburn to show up in Detroit on Sunday and that is still not assured.
Replying to @jbarro
Because Clyburn told them to bury the hatchet and in return he'd be a surrogate for AES with the black community.
It looks a lot like Stevens refused to play ball, given they campaigned together yesterday and she attacked him again today.

The 21st century fertility decline is driven by falling 1st (and to some extent 2nd) births.
Declining marriage is one cause.
But @PeterRFB @DrJasonCarroll and I show that unsupportive friends may uniquely shape 1st/2nd birth decisions too! cc @FamStudies

The top 1% are most likely to have 3+ kids. 49% of families in this bracket have 3+ kids - according to @mtkonczal.
Love to see an America 🇺🇸 where big families were easier to have up and down the income ladder.

What distinguishes the 1% from the merely affluent? How about having a third child.
New post on a topic I've long been fascinated by (the economics and financing of having a third kid) where I finally felt bold enough to go into the latest SCF microdata to get a good answer. /1

Great, great data.
I also a hunch that having 3 kids was becoming a new status symbol for the 1% in the 2020s. Not quite.
It's more that 3-kid families among every other non-rich percentile has declined by double-digit percentage points while the 1% held steady.
So having 3 kids went from being fairly common across the board to a luxury good that, increasingly, only the 1% can afford.
Replying to @mtkonczal
Is this a new status symbol? I don't think so. It looks more like children fall for all families except the 1% over the past 30 years.
Maybe the things that made children more difficult for the 99% just bounced right off the 1%? /2

Companies always give away coffee tumblers as promo gifts. Nobody needs another tumbler. Everybody has too many. What businesses should be giving away is chip clips. Everybody needs an extra chip clip.
This is an important tweet.

I think one of the most frustrating parts of the academy is that, for structural reasons, you spend much of your career watching good scholars/people fail and bad ones succeed.

i regret to inform you this is also literally what is happening with teacher pensions in the US today!
France is apparently dipping into its schools budget to plug holes in its public pension system. Seems relevant given that the country is currently being rocked by students protesting over conditions at their high schools!theconversation.com/the-fren…

Someday we will have nice tailgate weather for @JMUFootball, right?
Been tailgating for more than a quarter century & have never seen a season where it has rained for every single home tailgate.
Instead of building a new Bridgeforth maybe we start building an Ark!

When I went to @Tulane, in 2015, a dude in my dorm SA’ed a woman. He had school hearings. NOPD issued an order of protection. But no charges or expulsion.
I saw him out one night & yelled at him. He took a video & sent it to the school.
I was put on probation for “bullying”.
