Wonderful article about the expected privileges of the imperial military in vassal states
Spouses caught in foreign courts have been largely invisible to almost everyone in military circles, including each other. But in August the issue burst into public view when the wife of a Marine Corps officer went viral with an online plea, warning that she and her children could be trapped indefinitely in Germany. cnn.it/4sC5SSb
so that’s interesting! my grandmother had tongue cancer and has been g-tube dependent since 1993. so literally she *only* takes in what is metabolically necessary for her to live. anyway, in 1996 she was diagnosed w stage iv liver cancer.
sometimes i wonder why when people find out they have cancer they go straight to chemo and radiation.. they don’t ever just be like hmmm like me fast , detox , and eat right so it can all go away . idk , that’s just crazy to me .
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
There is no scientific evidence that fasting, detoxing or diet changes alone can cure cancer or make it go away. Standard treatments like chemotherapy and radiation are evidence-based and have driven major gains in survival rates.

Do judges usually have to do that

.@AbdulElSayed: No one appreciates the promise of America like somebody who understands exactly what America gave me. I got to go to great public schools, an amazing public university. I love this country. I love the Constitution and what it protects for all of us. But right now it has gotten way too hard. Our politics have been bought off by big corporations, billionaires, special interests, buying and selling politicians in the same way that they bought and sold Mike Rogers his entire career.

This is incredible:
"The Alamo Trust, which oversees the landmark, told Texas Public Radio Friday that it was unaware of any plans for Paxton to host an event on the grounds. The Alamo’s rules generally prohibit political events on the grounds."
In other words: Ken Paxton's campaign team was so inept they didn't even bother to check whether they were *allowed* to hold a political rally at the Alamo, and turns out they weren't.
Ken Paxton appears to cancel final rally of his “Come and Take It” tour at the Alamo. bit.ly/4ijOCh2

The thing I love (and hate) about this breakdown is that it matches the exact same conclusion I have reached. No matter how many numbers/models/polls I overlay and crunch together to try to get some sort of idea where we stand, outside of past primary voters basically tied in my district (which is a large swing from previous elections), it really all comes down to how the non-primary voters are splitting and there is simply no way of knowing what is going to happen until numbers come in on election night.
And that is quite literally torture.
My take on where things stand at the end of early voting in Texas.

And now we're up to 763,307 early voters in Texas who didn't vote in 2024 so far. Including 367,329 Hispanic voters.

Not only was the Juke never actually safe, it being unsafe wasn’t because of Grace it was because of the klan and that could not have been made more clear. There was a reason Chinese dancers were included in the scene yall love so much!

Well no. And Coogler addressed this when the movie came out. Xenophobia is coloring yalls interpretation and leading to these racially shallow and simplistic takes. The juke was never a Black safe space, the KKK sold it to them and was coming for them in the morning regardless
the fact this even had to be said is crazy work lmao
Replying to @SpeedyMorman
People in the comments saying she could still use training and development have completely missed the point. Every player could use help, the question is what could a random nigga on Twitter with 0 known accomplishments teach her?

what on earth could YOU teach a NCAA national champion, WNBA defensive player of the year, all wnba second team, 3x wnba all star, mcdonalds all american etc.???

I wanna work with Angel Reese on her game so bad…Brother in Christ @SpeedyMorman, if you’d ever be so kind to make the connection.
this must only be an issue in v young neighborhoods cuz my entire neighborhood seemed to have both parents out tonight AND plenty of folks posted up to hand out candy. but we also live in a really great neighborhood and folks rly do the most for the kiddos here
I have slight beef with millennial parents’ approach to trick-or-treating — both parents go with the kids, which on its face is sweet but in reality means our street with 30+ kids is entirely dead
we now have a reputation as a street no one bothers with because no one is home to hand out candy!!! figure out shift work or something, friends!
underrated part of this discussion is that regardless of the industry, sabbaticals for women are largely nonexistent bc any extended gap in a woman’s work history automatically puts her at the bottom of the list. even if one could, she likely wouldn’t for this reason.
