For Criterion Current, I wrote about the 1948–1951 trilogy of anthology movies based on Somerset Maugham short stories: QUARTET, TRIO and ENCORE. All three are @criterionchannl, and I enjoyed them so much I spent all summer reading Maugham stories. criterion.com/current/posts/…
This woman is disgusting. I'm sick of her getting her miserable hands all over these precious items. And gleefully talking about seeing her jewelry in her safe after she died is just plain creepy and weird. These museums/stores/whatever should be ashamed of dealing with her.

Our campaign has effectively come to a halt due to a lack of donations. Children with cancer in Gaza are in desperate need of your support to access treatment, please consider donating.🙏🏼💔

Director Federico Fellini and Giulietta Masina during a break from filming Nights of Cabiria (1957)

ALT Director Federico Fellini and his wife actress Giulietta Masina — Fellini dressed in a white shirt and light-coloured trousers, Masina in costume, dressed in a dark-coloured check jacket and black skirt — captured standing together, facing each other in profile while in an embrace, Masina looking toward the camera as a crew member opens a parasol above them, in a medium-length black-and-white shot taken during a break from location filming in Rome for Nights of Cabiria (1957)

If Haley Stevens was the nominee, and Abdul’s wife was voting for Mike Rogers and had donated tens of thousands of dollars to Susan Collins, I have a sneaking suspicion your response would not have been “Big Tent!”

Rest in peace, Sir Patrick Stewart, who passed away today at the age of 86. Perhaps best known for his iconic role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Stewart spent the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown sharing videos of himself reading Shakespeare’s sonnets. Notably, he was once joined by his neighbor’s cat Glenn who appeared unimpressed by Sonnet 40.

Happy 5th anniversary, LAST NIGHT IN SOHO. This, with @edgarwright & Krysty Wilson-Cairns, is still one of my most cherished Q&As, on a film that became a modern-day favorite for me. Infinitely re-watchable, gorgeous, haunting, with stellar fashion and soundtrack to boot. 💜
He was killed in the RAF because they wouldn’t demob them even though the war was over and he was hitchhiking home because they told them to do that. I have no dad but I have a plaque saying he gave his life for King and Country.
I’m sure you mean to be kind.
Replying to @EricIdle

A beauty, a charmer, a star. RIP
Elke Sommer, the German-born actress who starred in several major 1960s films like “The Prize” with Paul Newman and the “Pink Pnther” sequel “A Shot in the Dark” with Peter Seller, has died. She was 85.
She died just three months after her husband, Wolf Walther, died of cancer.

I'm losing my mind. Millions of Muslim and Arab Americans were told in '24 to ignore a genocide in which some of them lost multiple family members and vote for Biden/Harris to stop the GOP. They were "expected" to do it.
And no one is "bigoted" against Stevens - she's not Jewish.

Kara Swisher's NYT columns & pods declaring the end of movie theaters, glazing streaming CEOs & Warner's soon-to-be-ousted Jason Kilar (who fumbled Christohper Nolan), and declaring her own lack of interest in moviegoing as indicative of a national trend have aged like dogshit
Geordi La Forge actor LeVar Burton pays tribute to his “Star Trek” co-star Patrick Stewart:
“He was family. There is no other context in which to hold him that makes sense. I am lucky to have known and loved so many of the facets of a soul so rich in talent and generous of heart. Of all the Dames and Knights I’ve known he was deep down-the silliest.”

December’s hottest NYC rep ticket is a rare screening, on 35mm yet, of Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman’s Joan of Arc movie followed by Bergman and Victor Fleming’s Hollywood version from six years earlier, also on 35

RIP the great Patrick Stewart. I worked with him on the movie of my play Jeffrey, and he was, of course, an extraordinary and disciplined actor, but also a total joy as a person. He was wonderfully generous and appreciative, with a delight in whatever was happening around him. He'll be missed and treasured
