No more smart cities. I want dumb cities. Cities that anyone can use and live in, public infrastructure that makes so much sense you don't have to think twice to interact. A city where I don't have to watch strangers struggle to understand Presto or bikesharing or parking.

At the first mayoral debate on poverty. I saw Kevin Clarke, a candidate who lives in poverty, get assaulted for trying to speak
After getting the impression this isn't quite what others saw, I wrote about it. Please read and share my latest:

This is hilarious. Engineers are competing who creates the worst UI on Reddit.
I think the winners are:

I just had a positive customer service experience. With @TorontoHydro. And their website was easy to use! Is my curse of having bad luck with online service finally...lifting?

I just moved and my living room window looks right into an Ontario Public Service IT office. Do you think they'd play along if I challenged them to a window post-it note tic-tac-toe contest??
my partner just informed me that litigious is pronounced like Fergalicious and the world just makes a little bit more sense today
Today I did a recap of everything we've accomplished with open data at @ESDC_GC in the last year and it was a really good reminder to record your wins whenever you can because my heart feels full. ❤️ This is the good fight.

For the two weirdos saying, "run for mayor," just know that my platform would be declaring Electric Circus as intangible cultural heritage and reinstating dance parties at Queen/John every Friday at which me, your mayor, DJs in spandex. No one wants that. youtube.com/watch?v=c-ydGUHU…

Old mail from a client in prison. His dog Jennifer bit a police officer who tried to rouse him while he was sleeping rough. Jennifer, his best friend, was declared a "Dangerous Dog" and taken away. I think about this a lot: "what are we fighting for?" Justice and love, always.

Today, people are asking me for #TTC fare to go to a warming centre. I have to tell them that @cityoftoronto did not decide to open them, and unfortunately there's nowhere to go after we close. They are asking me why, it's wet and cold outside, and I have no answer.

Much more useful when results are scoped to components. Easier to pull signal from noise and reduces redundancy of multiple tests flagging the same element.
So some friends and I entered a speed jigsaw puzzle contest in the 'burbs on a whim and... snagged a silver!🥈2nd Place Champs!

ALT Four people smiling assembling a jigsaw puzzle on a ping pong table inside a Games store. The first person has a ponytail and a plaid shirt and is smiling. The second one has short hair and red glasses and is assembling the puzzle. The third person is smiling with a hoodie and gray toque on while the fourth person is wearing a shirt with flowers on it and jeans, smiling while holding a puzzle piece.
