Do you have friends that just can't quite quit the pandemic? Do you have family members that believe food dropped on the floor for more than five seconds will kill them? Do you think the experts have always been right throughout history? If yes, my book is for them. And you. Just published by @brownstone.

Oct 7 was clarifying for me. As @DouglasKMurray said it was like a flare went up and you could see where everyone was standing.

Western governments like Canada have aggressively sanctioned Israeli settlers and NGOs in the West Bank. Meanwhile, Canada which has committed $500M+ in Palestinian aid has not sanctioned a single PA official over Pay for Slay. My latest on the striking asymmetry of western sanctions. thefp.com/p/this-week-in-can…

Study summary:
Most interaction stays within party. When people did interact across parties, it was mostly through replies.
Republicans crossed party lines more often than Democrats.
It's highly concentrated. Over 95% of all replies and quotes fall within just 1,000 conversations, about 0.01% of all conversations.
The parties used replies and quotes differently. Republicans' cross-party replies leaned on appeals to science, sometimes misinformed, such as FDA approval, myocarditis and the Israel data. Their quotes attacked government mandates and "Big Pharma."
Democrats' replies and quotes looked much alike: mostly attacks on Trump, DeSantis and Abbott, plus policy issues.
Much cross-party exposure is indirect. Retweets of quote tweets alone make up about 30% of all cross-party interactions. In total, 48.6% of cross-party exposure is indirect: a user sees the other party's content through a same-party user who quoted or replied to it.
Elites drive it. Among the 50 most-retweeted cross-party quote tweets, only one quoting or quoted account had fewer than 10K followers.
Half of the heavily retweeted cross-party quotes quoted just 32 accounts, mostly politicians and media outlets.
The core is small and lopsided. The core is 95 users: 38 Democrats and 57 Republicans
Core Democrats are mostly news outlets, scientists and doctors, and they rarely engage the other side.
When they do, 95% of their cross-party interactions are replies.
They retweeted core Republicans only 7 times.
Core Republicans are commentators, authors, and entrepreneurs who actively quote and reply to the left.
Republican-to-Democrat interactions make up 33.6% of core activity, versus 3.2% overall.
Takeaway: The authors describe much cross-party contact as a one-way "faux discussion." Right-leaning figures outside the traditional media quote mainstream left-leaning outlets and experts to frame them for their own followers. So efforts to reduce online polarization need to account for elites, how platform features like quoting are used, and the differences in how the two parties behave.

Never rent a car from SIXT. Never. Insanely deceptive app that just charged me hundreds of dollars for features and services it appeared I was declining. Won't allow modification or cancellation.

Putin: The war will continue until its root causes are eliminated.
The root cause of the war:
The $40 trillion national debt does not just threaten us down the road. It’s hurting you today. Every dollar Washington prints fuels inflation and shrinks the value of the money you already earned.

"Opinions are fine. Presenting bullshit as facts is not." On this, we are in complete agreement. Calling a government policy literally described as "mandatory vaccination," non-coercive because nobody was physically held down is an excellent illustration.
People lost their jobs, were barred from planes and trains, and depending on the province were excluded from restaurants, gyms and other parts of public life if they refused vaccination.
It's horrible that after all these years, there's zero empathy for those who refused to take a vaccine that did zilch to stop the virus from spreading.

Some folks continue to repeat the claim that covid shots "saved 3.2 million lives" in the US alone, an estimate based on a modeling study published in a non-peer reviewed blog. The counterfactual that one would have to believe to get to this number is so absurd that it is hard to understand how anyone calling himself a scientist could cite it.

Tariffs are good. They're paid for by foreigners. But it's good when they're removed, because that makes things more affordable. Also we are going to distribute the tariff funds—which are good, because imports are good. But it’s also good that we won't have those funds from this.
