But the access option exposes another problem with the first premise. The question is atheism vs. theism. Theism by itself doesn't commit one to God seeking relationship. If the question is Christianity, then all of Christian theology can be brought to bear.

I'm not establishing symmetry, I'm pointing out that the syllogism as it was written doesn't follow because it has four terms. Replacing the middle term with one option or the other creates problems for either one or both premises.

If we use the latter, it says more about the psychology of people than of the question at issue, so the conditional in the major premise is even more suspect.
