Kyle Sloter says he was told to play worse in the preseason with the Vikings because the team didn’t want competition between its backup quarterback and starter. "I was told when I was with the Vikings at one point that I needed to do less. That I needed to go out there and be worse in the preseason. Because it was creating an atmosphere that was not what they wanted. They don’t want competition between a backup quarterback and a starter. They don’t want any controversy. They don’t want those things. Especially when you have a lot of guaranteed money on a guy that is going to play no matter what. I have had people tell me that in order to make it as a backup in the league year after year after year, you have to play like a backup. And it just was never me. It was never me to not go out there and compete. It was never me to go out there and not feel like, if I’m not the starter, my mindset is I’m going to be the starter someday. I’m going to be better than the starter. I did things my own way. I have to live with that as well. I could have very easily laid down and done things a little bit differently." @KyleSloter

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed. This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities. Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery. Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children. Abolish ICE.

Never trust your MAGAt grandparents... Meet MAGAt, child predator, and retired Air Force Brigadier General Mike Houston McClendon who graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1975 and built a highly decorated career as a military test pilot, logging over 10,000 flight hours across dozens of aircraft types. He rose to the rank of Brigadier General, serving in major positions such as the Director of Flight Test and as an assistant to the Chief of Air Force Reserve before his retirement in 2009. Following his military service, he worked internationally as a commercial airline captain. The case against McClendon began coming to light following local reports, leading to an official investigation by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office into continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age. The criminal investigation was officially launched after one of McClendon's granddaughters provided a detailed outcry regarding the abuse taking place at his ranch. On May 11, 2024, deputies initiated a traffic stop near Sulphur Springs, Texas, identifying McClendon as a primary person of interest. After being brought in for questioning, he was formally arrested and booked into the Hopkins County Jail. The resolution of the case occurred on May 21, 2026, in the 8th Judicial District Court. Both the prosecution and defense waived their right to a jury trial, electing to present the case directly to Judge Eddie Northcutt in a bench trial. During the trial, testimony was provided by four children, including two of his granddaughters. After examining this testimony and corroborating evidence recovered from McClendon's electronic devices, Judge Northcutt found the 72-year-old guilty and sentenced him to 40 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Remember the father who was shot and killed by ICE in suburban Chicago last year? His family just filed a formal claim against the federal government. DHS originally claimed the officer was dragged by the man’s vehicle and seriously injured. But police bodycam footage captured the officer describing his injuries as “nothing major.” So that was a lie. And the medical examiner found that Silverio Villegas González was shot in the back of the neck at close range. He was executed. His two young sons are still in foster care. More than a year later, the government still hasn’t publicly identified the officer who killed him. Protecting a murderer. His family is demanding answers. And frankly, they deserve them.

Newly revealed texts allege to show Trump’s Greece ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle asking a donor to wipe out her $100,000 credit-card debt in exchange for favors—then repeatedly begging the donor not to put it in writing. So much for “draining the swamp.”

In 1952 a man walked in off the street into the Los Angeles Rams offices carrying a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and asked for a tryout. He had never played college football. He was working at an aircraft plant, lifting sheets of metal out of a bin and feeding them into a press. That season he set a record that has stood for 74 years. His name was Richard Lane. He was born in Austin, Texas on April 16, 1928, and when he was three months old he was left in a trash bin, covered over with newspapers. A woman named Ella Lane found him and raised him alongside four other children. He grew up bussing tables and shining shoes. In 1948 he enlisted in the Army and spent four years at Fort Ord in California. He played for the base team and caught 18 touchdown passes in 1951. When he got out, he took the factory job. The Rams offices were on his way to work. They signed him as a free agent. In his first scrimmage on August 3, 1952, one writer called him the outstanding player on the field by a country mile. He got his nickname in training camp. A teammate named Tom Fears kept playing a Jimmy Forrest record called Night Train in his room, and Lane was always out in the hallway dancing to it. Then he played twelve games as a rookie and intercepted 14 passes. Fourteen. In twelve games. No player in the history of the National Football League has ever intercepted more passes in a season, and seasons are five games longer now than they were then. On December 7, 1952 he picked off three against the Green Bay Packers and ran one back 80 yards. The next week he picked off three more against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He finished with 68 interceptions over 14 years with the Rams, the Chicago Cardinals and the Detroit Lions. Seven times a first team All-Pro. He hit so hard the league changed the rules because of him. In 1961 he brought down Jon Arnett by the face mask at full speed, and the NFL made grabbing the face mask illegal the next year. He went into the Hall of Fame in 1974. Here is the part that is not on the plaque. He went to work in the Detroit Lions front office and became the first Black employee that franchise ever had in that building. Then from 1975 to 1992 he ran the Police Athletic League in Detroit. He grew it to 16 centers serving 20,000 kids. He died in Austin in 2002, at 73, after a game of dominoes, with jazz playing in his room. A baby in a trash can became the best there ever was at taking the ball away, and then spent seventeen years giving 20,000 children somewhere to go. Called a plumber for what should've been a simple garbage disposal swap. Quote came back at $540. I asked how long the job takes. He said: "maybe 20 minutes, the part's $35." I said: "so I'm paying over $1,500 an hour in labor?" He glanced at the door and lowered his voice. "I make $24 an hour. The PE firm that bought us out two years ago sets a minimum revenue number for every single call." Pulled out his tablet. Showed me the dashboard. If he doesn't hit $2,500 a day, it goes in his file. The guy who started that plumbing company ran it for 25 years charging fair prices and did fine. Now private equity owns plumbing, HVAC, and electrical companies across entire regions, jacked prices up 300%+, and turned skilled tradesmen into commissioned salesmen with quotas. You're not paying for the repair anymore. You're funding a private equity firm's quarterly numbers.

EXCLUSIVE: Five sources have confirmed to the Daily Mail that a formal Department of State Office of Inspector General (OIG) probe has been opened into Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle and her US embassy in Athens. Inside the Athens mission, insiders report a 'toxic workplace' climate and 4 a.m. requests. On several occasions, Guilfoyle reportedly snarled a now-famous threat to embassy workers: 'F****** get it done or you're f****** fired!' READ HERE FOR MORE: dailymail.com/news/article-1…

BREAKING: This is HUGE. Iranian officials say they’re preparing to release voicemails left to them by Donald Trump and if they do so, the political fallout could be explosive. They claim Trump begged, threatened and even tried to bribe Iranian officials to reopen the Strait of Hormuz—because soaring gas prices were becoming a political nightmare ahead of the midterms. Not national security. Not principle. Not peace. Just a desperate scramble to keep voters in line until November 3. If those recordings exist, America may finally hear what desperation sounds like when the cameras are off and Trump can't control the narrative. How humiliating.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The voicemail allegation originated with the satirical X account @HalfwayPost, not an announcement from Iranian officials or state media. vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/grounding-api-…

NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE STOP GOING TO THE DOCTOR… Got my daughter’s checkup bill this morning. 15 minutes. No tests. No prescription. $365. I pay $638 a month for health insurance. That’s $7,656 a year before my family even sees a doctor. Then I actually use the insurance and get another bill. So I’m paying thousands every year just to be insured… Then paying again when I need healthcare? WHERE IS ALL THAT MONEY GOING? I’ll shut up and listen.

So… The Kimberly Guilfoyle story. The Don Jr. wedding party. Noem’s DHS contracts. Lewandowski’s deals. The Reflecting Pool contract. The kind of corruption we see in third-world countries. And absolutely no shame whatsoever. And why? Because these people seem to believe that when accountability finally comes knocking, all they have to do is blame Democrats, cry “political witch hunt,” and get a pardon. They watched Trump use that playbook and get away with it. Now they seem convinced they can, too.

Willie Nelson just asked Texans to vote for James Talarico. “I’ve gotten to know James Talarico. He’s a good man, who will be a good senator for the state of Texas. Please vote and vote for James Talarico.” Talarico, the Democrat facing Ken Paxton, is using the endorsement to launch Rural Texans for Talarico. The bet is country fans and rural voters will hear a Texas icon in a way they will not hear a party ad.

Tonight Garrett Mitchell reached over the wall in center field and took a home run away from the San Diego Padres. He did it with an insulin pump in his back left pocket. He fell to the 14th round out of high school because of what is in that pocket. Start in the third grade. He told his mother he did not feel well. He was going to the bathroom about once an hour and his stomach hurt. Shannon Van Dyke had her son's blood sugar tested. A healthy number is around 80. The meter would not give her a number at all. It just read HIGH. The real figure was over 600. "I remember my heart dropping, being afraid, and not knowing what to do or what our future looked like." He got the pump at 10. She began setting an alarm for 2 or 3 in the morning to test him while he slept. She has said those years felt like having a newborn. He kept playing. He carried a bag everywhere with snacks, insulin and sugar in it. By his senior season at Orange Lutheran High School in California he was one of the best young outfielders in the country, and scouts had him going somewhere in the first three rounds. He went in the 14th. The Oakland Athletics took him. His coach at UCLA, John Savage, said the diabetes hurt his draft value. There were, in his words, lingering questions about it. His agent Scott Boras later put a number on what it cost. Without the condition, Boras said, Mitchell could have been a top 5 pick. So he turned the Athletics down and went to UCLA instead. In three seasons there he hit .327. He hit 15 triples, second most in the history of that program, and his 12 in 2019 set a UCLA record and led all of college baseball. In June of 2020 the Milwaukee Brewers took him 20th overall in the first round. He signed for $3,242,900. "My hands were shaking." Now here is the part that tells you what this actually costs him. On September 13 of this year, Milwaukee took him out of a game in the middle of the afternoon. He was not injured. "We took him out precautionary. He had high blood sugar." His manager Pat Murphy added that it happens a lot going from a night game to a day game, and that the team keeps working on it. That was three and a half weeks ago. Tonight he robbed a home run in a game San Diego had to win, and Milwaukee is going to the National League Championship Series. His mother once described the pump like this. "You will notice it in his back left pocket. It never leaves his body, even when he's playing."

Cruelty is the entire point. ICE recently spent $16.7 million on 6,000 pairs of “shock gloves”. They call them a “de-escalation” tool. We now know what happened when the US Army actually tested them. According to a previously unreleased Army study, people subjected to the gloves experienced intense pain and immediate “compliance.” Afterward, participants showed fear about being shocked again. Of course they did. And here’s an important detail. The study wasn’t designed to determine whether the gloves were medically safe. We still don’t know that yet. ICE has already signed the contract. Six thousand pairs. $16.7 million. I feel like “Are these actually safe to use on human beings?” probably should’ve come before the purchase order. Again, cruelty is the entire point.

Telling an eighty-year-old woman to "check the portal" for serious biopsy results is cruelty disguised as digital efficiency. My 82-year-old aunt had a lung biopsy done two weeks ago. The doctor told her they’d have the pathology report ready within five business days. Friday afternoon rolled around. No call. She dialed the clinic’s main desk, her voice shaking with anxiety. The receptionist cut her off before she could finish explaining: “Doctor doesn’t give results over the phone anymore. All lab findings are automatically released to your MyChart patient portal.” My aunt said, “Sweetheart, I don’t have a computer. I have a landline on my kitchen wall. Can the doctor just tell me if I have cancer?” The receptionist sighed into the receiver: “It’s hospital network policy. We can’t bypass the portal. You’ll have to have a family member create an account and view the file.” My aunt spent an entire seventy-two-hour weekend sitting in her recliner, gripping her reading glasses, convinced she was dying. I drove out to her house on Monday morning, set up a profile on my laptop, and pulled up the records. The result was benign. The pathology report had been uploaded four days earlier. A doctor spent three minutes clicking an upload button, and an elderly woman endured four days of sheer psychological terror because the hospital decided a phone call was too expensive. Since when did delivering medical news become a self-service task?
