I love ICP Internet Computer is ambitious, and DFINITY has built some incredible tech. Cloud infrastructure that claims to be hack-proof? That's a big promise, and I respect big promises. As someone here perfectly said: "The computer security system wasn't hacked. A human opened a door for crooks." Hack-proof cloud doesn't exist because the cloud isn't the weakest link the HUMAN is. ICP can have the most secure canisters, chain-key cryptography, decentralized cloud but: 1. Someone still has to write the code for the canister one bug, one backdoor, gone. 2. Someone still has to hold the admin keys / neurons / NNS votes one laptop compromised, gone. 3. Someone still has to sign a transaction on their laptop one malicious signature, wallet drained. That's why we see every day: "my bank's fine, my wallet got drained, shoulda kept it in bank lol" Not because blockchain failed, but because hot wallet + human clicked. ICP is infrastructure. Infrastructure can be excellent and still be bypassed by social engineering. That's why the smartest ICP whales I know do this: They LOVE ICP for building but they DON'T keep life-changing net worth in a hot wallet connected to the internet, even on ICP. What they do: 1. Build on ICP yes, best decentralized cloud we have 2. Store long-term holdings in a true secure cold wallet air-gapped, multi-sig, uncompromised. No single package of code, no single canister, can move it without physical approval 3. Put it under an LLC structure so even if a canister, exchange, or bank gets breached, the asset is legally isolated, not in personal name, not easily seized like billions in Iran-linked wallets the US government seized ICP as cloud infrastructure? Potentially the future. ICP as "hack-proof" so you don't need to secure your own wallet? Dangerous illusion. Banks have FDIC $250K, guardrails, four-eyes, circuit breakers, state and military as collateral and they still got hit: JPMorgan 76M, Capital One 100M, $2.9B wire fraud in 2023 per FBI. ICP has chain-key, canisters, NNS amazing guardrails. But one human can still open the door. FTX had guardrails too Tom Brady $30M, Gisele $25M, Kevin O'Leary $10M+ gone. No cloud is hack-proof. Only a properly secured private setup is.
