I am live with @verasight_data to discuss our Ohio and Texas polls which found James Talarico and Sherrod Brown ahead barely, but within the margin of error.

One of my favorite new projects!

"We're showing people the same exact information presented two ways... The change in effect when you change from rates to prices, it was just enormous. I mean, I think they may have been the biggest effects I've ever seen."
@UptonOrwell, Clinical Associate Professor at @NYUCGA, on his work and his new working paper with Christopher Wlezien, "The Effects of Inflation Information: Rates, Prices, and Politics in the Public Mind."
Kane and Wlezien's paper uses Verasight data. Read the full paper here: doi.org/10.33774/apsa-2026-v…

New VoteHub/@verasight_data Texas poll: our survey finds two highly competitive races. James Talarico narrowly leads for U.S. Senate, while Greg Abbott leads by even less for Governor. Both leads are within the margin of error.

Excited to have partnered with @verasight_data on this poll. Getting a demographically representative sample is incredibly difficult, but this is a good one. The design effect is very small, and the sample closely matches the electorate across the demographics we weighted on!
VoteHub partnered with @verasight_data to conduct a new Ohio poll, finding narrow Democratic leads in both the U.S. Senate and governor’s races. Both leads are within the margin of error.

Updated the Trump approval and party trust trends with our new Strength In Numbers/ @verasight_data poll. All-time lows for Trump on prices, deportations — pretty much everything. Plus, Democrats now lead on immigration, foreign policy, and the economy

Good times discussing data and citizen forecasting! A little preview for the PS Midterm Forecasting Special Issue, coming soon!
"Long-term structural models have a hard time adjusting to things like a surprise mid-decade redistricting. But citizens don't. They are able to respond to those things in a very exciting way."
@DebraLeiter, Associate Professor of Political Science at @UMKC, on citizen forecasting research with @MaryStegmaier and @mlewisbeck.
Leiter, Stegmaier and Lewis-Beck's research uses Verasight data.

Many thanks to @verasight_data for interviewing me about my recent research with @CBWlezien ! Had fun discussing how the public (mis)understands inflation information, and why it matters 👍

We have a treat for you ahead of our poll release next week @TheArgumentMag.
Thanks to our data partners at @verasight_data, we've received data for "dropoff" respondants (those who started, but didn't complete the polls) for all our polls.
Extra model update coming tomorrow!

New study from me and the Verasight team on “AI-moderated” online survey interviews. A lot here but the upshot is these tools offer depth the way a focus group does, but a lot of people drop off and in our testing this created some significant biases

I really appreciate the great conversation w/
@gelliottmorris
about my recent research. Here's a short summary of my overall argument: medium.com/p/b60d0440e756.
Learned a lot talking to Peter Enns for my podcast’s latest deep dive ep about his new paper "How a Seemingly Innocuous and Intuitive Methodological Choice Confused a Generation of Research on Policy Responsiveness."
Some rare good news for democracy?

I had the pleasure of talking to @verasight_data about my recent AJPS article “You and Whose Economy: Group-Based Retrospection in Economic Voting.”
We discuss why voters care about in-group economic conditions, which groups matter, what this means for politics and much more!
“Both in Denmark and the US, voters respond substantially more to news about their in-group than about their out-groups.”
@chdausgaard of @uni_copenhagen, on his recently published paper “You and whose economy? Group-based retrospection in economic voting.”
The paper’s US experiments use Verasight data; a link to the full paper is available in the comments.
