Since 1979 I've saved many documents and relics from my gaming journey. My name is Tim Stamper, I'm the co-founder of Ultimate Play The Game, Rare and FortuneFish.
It's finally time to let go of my reputation for secrecy... 👀

It's a shame the FPGA emulator scene is flooded with AI slop, but it won't stop my work. I'm still passionate about boards and chip architectures, because software analysis and measurements have limits. I just want to automate tasks that don't need humans so I can contribute more

This isn't a CRT.
It's a MiSTer on a modern 4K TV, through a Morph 4K running firmware v4.
Beam-to-glass CRT simulation, a rebuilt deinterlacer, Tate Mode and more. Out now in beta, free for every owner 👇

MW4 campaign was a blast and the exact gaming fix I needed this weekend. Congrats to @InfinityWard and all the other studios involved. Best of luck with the rest of the launch.

Epic has done this many times. That’s why it’s so inspiring to support them.
- Epic vs Apple lawsuit
- Perfecting the F2P model
- Game distribution without junk fees
- Free game dev tools
- Tung Tung Tung
- Cross platform gaming
Epic Games has become the industry’s lightning rod, drawing concentrated criticism so that independent developers may continue building/innovating in relative peace.
“We vibe coded”. Based. They’re leaning in all the way and becoming the lightning rod for all the AI hatred of the gaming industry. That’s actually a noble sacrifice people don’t realize. That means that when other companies do even a little less obvious AI stuff all the angry people will still focus on Epic. Good guy Epic.
This is easily the most complex board I’ve ever made. Trion T120 FPGA connected to 112 buffer IO lines. I attach (much cheaper) daughter boards to it and use the FPGA to explore and measure their behavior. NEC V35 in the hot seat this week.

Are the comparable experiences in the room with us now?
I love Tim for just coming out and saying it straight.
People really want to create a narrative around running emulators on PS5. Of course a PS5 can run a PS2 emulator, PCSX2 was ported to XBox X three years ago. There is no Sony "gotcha" here. There is no "AI made this possible". It's just software, running on hardware.

Actually, I think it's worth saying once again that we in Ukraine deeply appreciate all the Americans who, in one way or another, support Ukraine and sympathize with us. Who still do, despite everything, after all these years, sincerely and selflessly, simply because it is in keeping with their values.
We know and remember that there are very many such Americans, even a majority, up to 70%, across both parties.
These are the people working in the corridors of power and trying to make a difference, those who actively volunteer to help Ukraine, and simply those who care and stay with us all these years.
There are a lot of emotions, a lot of hurt feelings, and there may also be plenty of unfair and careless words directed at America. But we extend our hands in friendship and gratitude to everyone who has stood, and continues to stand, on the side of good amid all this madness.
And don't forget, we still have one hell of a massive international drinking party to throw together in Kyiv on the first Christmas time after the war.

Everyone really push push pushed to get the game to look amazing. Departments hitting limits, code raising them, tech art getting it all to run smooth. It all came together with a victorious bang.
