A significant milestone: #Kenya and #China have signed an MoU on the #AfricaSolarBelt initiative under the South-South Cooperation for addressing climate change. The initiative will provide sustainable clean energy to 120,000 people in remote, off-grid rural communities in Kilifi and Tana River counties, including Masai Mara University. This energy will power drinking water supplies, schools and health care facilities, improving essential services and people’s livelihoods. By combining Kenya’s resources with China’s expertise, both countries are committed to promoting climate resilience and green, low-carbon development.
A strong example of South-South cooperation is turning technology and investment into better services for children. @UNICEFKenya is pleased to have supported the feasibility work underpinning the initiative and the coordination between both governments, and remains committed to bringing its technical expertise and partnerships to help leverage resources for the needs of children and communities.

Kenya is quite the paradox. Our refugee camps shelter people fleeing wars in neighbouring countries, while our posh estates are home to the families of the very warlords accused of driving them from their homes.
The victims seek refuge here. So do the families of their tormentors. From the 70s to now. Whenever there is a humanitarian crisis in Rwanda, South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Uganda...
You can guarantee that you will bump into wives and children of 'persons of interest' living their best lives in uptown Nairobi malls and schools
Succession jitters send Uganda’s elite house-hunting in neighbouring Nairobi.

The treatment of Kenyans seeking visas to Nigeria is unacceptable. While we extend visa free entry to Nigerian citizens, this is not reciprocated. The inconvenience suffered by Kenyans is unwarranted. We are pursuing the remedying of this situation with vigor at diplomatic and political levels. @KenyaHC_Nigeria @NigeriaMFA
