Dan you know that Barnet FC's return would boost support for shops, cafés, pubs and other local businesses. For too long, local high streets have been competing on an uneven playing field. Jobs, opportunity, and growth - good news for Barnet and beyond! 🐝🏟️⚽️🦫🦦#BringBarnetBack
For too long, local high streets have been competing on an uneven playing field, against huge online retailers and rising costs.
This Budget takes a step in the right direction: more business rates support for shops, cafés, pubs and other local businesses, while removing relief from vape shops and reinvesting it into our high streets.
Jobs, opportunity, and growth - good news for Barnet and beyond!

Lucy White says Britain has always been White, always Christian and always culturally homogeneous.
All three claims are false bigoted bullshit aimed at the gullible and at dumb ignorant racists.
Britain’s earliest modern inhabitants came from elsewhere. DNA analysis by the Natural History Museum and UCL suggests Cheddar Man, our oldest near-complete skeleton, had dark skin and blue eyes, and that pale skin arrived in Britain much later.
In Roman York, around one in ten people buried in the Yorkshire Museum’s collections were of likely African descent. One emperor, Septimius Severus, was born in Libya and died in York. Henry VIII’s royal trumpeter, John Blanke, was African, and Henry paid for his wedding clothes.
Christianity began in the Middle East and arrived here under Rome, after centuries of pagan belief.
Pagan Anglo-Saxons and Vikings followed, and England had to be converted again from 597. One of the earliest identifiable Christians in York, the woman known as the Ivory Bangle Lady, had North African ancestry.
Jewish communities lived here from 1070 until their expulsion in 1290, and returned in 1656.
Today, the 2021 census found that fewer than half of people in England and Wales describe themselves as Christian.
As for cultural homogeneity, Britain is a union of four nations, with several languages still spoken and a history shaped by Celts, Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans. For centuries after 1066 the English court spoke French. Protestants and Catholics fought over this country’s soul for generations. Homogeneous is about the last word any historian would choose.
Lucy White is the British representative of the Save Europe Act, which campaigns for “remigration” and to protect what it calls the “ethnocultural continuity” of Europe.
The European Commission refused to register it as a citizens’ initiative because it would amount to discrimination on grounds of race and ethnic origin.
If you can convince enough gullible politically and historically illiterate people that Britain has always been one race, one faith and one culture, then millions of British citizens begin to look like a mistake that needs correcting.
The real history is far more interesting, and it belongs to all of us. Britain has always been made by people arriving, mixing and changing what it means to be British.
Rewriting that history to serve a political project is pure #propaganda, and it deserves to be called out.
Haven't done this in a while.

Gas is cheap they said.
Jackdaw isn't going to put even the smallest dent in this
Resilient economy will be tested by this very recent sharp movement up in market gas prices - this is the UK chart per therm close to 240p on Iran war reintensification, a high since late 2022.
If you transpose the Ukraine 2022 shock on this, at the same stage, while avoiding the massive spike, after 241 days, today’s shock is more enduring… prices have trebled from 79p, whereas at this point for the Ukraine it was 204p, actually below pre invasion level.
Energy companies say the unit prices of gas and electricity are heading higher than the point which led to expensive universal Govt intervention in 2022, the sort ruled out this time (“wasted on rich households”). Still whatever the Budget brings we weren’t expecting activation of the plans prepared for a bigger scheme. If this endures, 5% inflation on the cards.
Since the Budget plans and forecasts were locked down, the tricky balancing act just got worse.

Oh my, another idiot take that just won’t die. The Europeans are not funding Russia’s war. They started from a deep structural dependency on Russian energy and have made tremendous — and fast — progress on decoupling. This isn’t something you just turn off overnight. And they still contribute far more to Ukraine in aid anyway.
In contrast, the US is not even remotely dependent on Russian fossil fuels and yet the Kremlin asset in the White House is easing sanctions anyway while completely shutting off aid.
Contrary to the braindead takes of Trump apologists, the hypocrisy runs squarely through Washington, not Brussels.
In case you were wondering who was funding Russia's war on Ukraine, the EU is the number 1 purchaser of Russia's liquid natural gas and pipeline gas products through September 2026.energyandcleanair.org/august…
This is a real shame.
The need for more interconnects to get power from Scotland to England was in the plans over a decade ago and should've already been built.
The delay has cost us dearly.

As I argued last year, the single decision not to build EGL2 from Peterhead to Drax before now probably accounts for ~2/3rds or more of all current constraint issues.
2015 NOA said build by 2023. Due in 2029.
If we'd built already...

Completely daft nonsense. The report was an independent investigation instead of a desperate witch-hunt. It found no evidence to support the conspiracy theories promoted by @ClaireCoutinho @KathrynPorter26 and the rest of the noisy anti-net-zero lobby.
Yesterday various reports into grid security and NESO governance around 23 June were published
@neso_energy and @mgshanks immediately seized on the statement by Eversheds that its "investigation has not substantiated any of the allegations”. Shanks said there was "no evidence" to support the allegations which is plainly not what Eversheds said nor what the report contains
At every turn, Eversheds took the most generous interpretation possible to NESO's benefit. Areas of concern were repeatedly identified and not followed up with rigour. A lack of evidence was taken as evidence to the contrary despite obvious limitations to the investigation process in terms of independence (Eversheds was appointed by NESO) and anonymity (some witnesses eg the Power System Manager would be easily identifiable to NESO staff and senior execs, potentially limiting what they would be willing to say)
Eversheds identified that important logs were not kept in the week of 22 June, despite engineers having identified ahead of time that risks would be elevated. Yet they did not explore why, or check that the reports had not been either deleted or simply withheld from them
They identified the possibility of mobile phones being used to pass on undue influence from the Corporate Affairs team but only checked the phone records of the PSM, not their line manager or other more senior people - yet elsewhere it mentions a manager coming to the control room when a demand control warning was being considered and when they left it was no longer being considered - a senior manager could speak by phone or in person to Corporate Affairs and pass on the concerns in person to the PSM - there is no evidence Eversheds considered this despite identifying the pieces of the puzzle
Eversheds identified significant weaknesses in record-keeping, a culture of reputational sensitivity, concerns that staff were not listened to by senior management, and uncertainty about whether the correct operational escalation procedures had been followed on 23 June
It also recorded that five network constraints had been breached with no available pre- or post-action mitigation options, with confusion about whether the largest loss was covered, and even what the impact of a single fault would have been
NESO admitted in its interim report to Ofgem that 5 grid constraints were breached despite having strongly suggested to the press that they had not
It also said that on 23 June it had taken “all available and commercially accessible” balancing actions while frequency remained significantly below its normal operating range despite automatic frequency response services responding to prevent further falls
So what reserve was left, and why was it not deployed? If reserves were not available or commercially accessible then they would be useless – did NESO retain enough usable reserve to cover the largest loss or not?
Anyone that thinks these reports exonerate NESO and that concerns over grid security can be dismissed is dreaming. The reports show there is no room for complacency. In my blog I list about 20 risks to grid security which ought to give readers an idea of the range of threats it faces
The question is whether anything will be done about it. @ofgem still expects NESO to mark its own homework, something other regulators of safety critical systems do not do
If the conclusion when the final reports come in is that the grid wasn't secure then there will be serious questions for both Ofgem and NESO to answer about the self-reporting process because the only reason the issues surrounding 23 June have been investigated at all was because @ClaireCoutinho stood up in Parliament TWICE and sounded the alarm (with due credit to the whistleblower who approached her in the first place)

Ora aggiungiamo qualche elemento.
E preoccupante.
